In Scruffy’s opinion, 80-90% are bullshite.

It is amazing how well humanity performed without having to drug our children.

People will rebel against your stance because they know someone who is a hyperactive child...a characteristic of children.

But let’s give our kids amphetamines, rather than taking a look at how our school systems are structured.

It’s not all bs, but ADD is vastly over-prescribed.

This. I'd say 80% of the diagnosed are bullshite.

Red 40 food dye has a direct link to ADHD. It's definitely not BS.

Scruffy views this the same way he views obesity.

Our society has been conditioned to the point where we think abnormal behavior is now normal.

We are incapable of managing what is normal childhood behavior.

You do realize when the ADHD brain is scanned, it shows a vast difference in areas of activity? I was diagnosed by LSU doctors in 1995, after a year of scans, blood samples, child psychiatrist appts twice a week etc... I carried it into adulthood and it affects every single day of my life.
Over diagnosed... Yes
Real... YES
Are you full of shite... Also yes

Problem is with the DSM-5 criteria, ADHD can be diagnosed purely based of Subjective information that the parents feed the doctors.

ETA: So when they say little johnny is fidgeting around in his seat, most of the time he needs an arse whipping and not adderall

The Dr who coined the term admitted on his deathbed that there is no such thing.

This and...

It's not bullshite at all. The thing I think is bullshite is that parents think going to a psychiatrist and pumping pills in their kid is what will "fix" them when there are behavioral therapies out there that actually help them.

Spot on. Big Pharm is making a killing.

PEDs for kids.

There are some kids where i think it’s necessary but a lot of moms want their kids on it for the advantages

That is the only way it is diagnosed.

Parents and teachers fill out forms with rankings for certain characteristics or actions.

Those rankings are purely subjective.

The numbers are tallied, and POOF, your child gets legal meth.

Scruffy what is your opinion on older adults, I’m talking like 60 plus taking adderall/vyvanse etc?

It blows my mind. And always, if I look down their profile, I find a script for Ambien or Lunesta. I know why you can’t sleep, its because your guzzling down 30mg of adderall twice a day

I'm also going to point out that not medicating your ADHD child, if truly ADHD, is an incredibly difficult situation to put YOUR CHILD in. It is a brain chemical imbalance that affects SEVERAL functions, focus, reward, pleasure, anxiety, etc... Anyone who thinks that a belt can fix ADHD is just incredibly ignorant.

My guess is that the democrats and the establishment republicans will agree on gun control related to Mental Illness. Then all these kids who went to a doctor and said they were too impulsive etc are gonna regret it.

95% is bullshite (those same ADD/ADHD kids can play video games or on their phones for hours on end).

The other 5% are legit, but probably half of them could get by without meds and with a good swift kick in the arse.
