Microwave method:
Two parts water to one part rice. Cook on full power for 5 minutes, then on 50% power for another 15 minutes. Anyway, that's how I do it.

Married a Thai, so we’ve got one of those fancy rice-cookers. It’s pretty awesome. Wash the jasmine rice, no need to soak, and the rice is done in 30 minutes.
I figured it wouldnt be uncommon for folks down in Louisiana to have one, seeing as how rice is a pretty prominent part of the cuisine.
