If husband makes 300k/ year, his spouse typically would spend a large sum anyway.
Example: husband makes $50k. Maybe $5k leftover after necessities. Wife will buy $5k in clothes at TJ Maxx.
Husband makes $150k now. Now she buys her clothes at White House Black Market.
Husband now makes $300k. Wife will just start buying clothes at expensive little boutiques that tailor fit your clothes.
