My stance and opinions change as I get more information and learn more. If the true death rate is far lower than 1%, that’s fantastic. But at this point, it appears to be much deadlier than swine flu.

Rate of deaths compared to # of cases is diminishing. Not saying deaths are slowing. Yes, there have been more deaths over the weekend. There have also been more tests done. As more tests are done, and more positives are coming back, that waters down the death rate of the virus per infected person.
Again, this virus will not be as bad as swine flu. Those that say it will, are just wishful thinking.

Which is why earlier testing should have been a priority. We could have had more accurate numbers and data, but no one pushed for it. The people saying more testing earlier would have had no effect or a negative effect are idiots.

No the average american is not 70. Yes, almost half of america does have a heart condition. My comment was directed at the total population of the US. Obviously distribution is going to change risk.

Perhaps the "jump" had something to do with the fact they started testing for it more than they did prior?
Most logical people understand that. And most logical people understand there are probably FAR more people in the US than 6,500 that likely have this. If you somehow tested every single American, I bet you'd likely have several hundred thousand positive test, right now, if not more. Hell, there are countless stories of people who have indicated that had similar symptoms 2-3 months ago...went to the doctor thinking they had the flu...only to test negative for the flu. My wife is one. Point being, this virus didn't just arrive in the US last week and start rapidly infecting people. It very like has been here for some time. Yet, the bodies aren't piling up in the streets
