I realized last night that the promo rate on my wife's car expired back in June, so I hopped on a chat this morning, and they gave me $8.49/month ($6.99 plus fees) on a permanent rate- specifically stated that it was not a promotional rate, for the Music & Entertainment Advantage Plan.

I don't know if it's a new pricing structure or if you have to ask to get it, but I was thankful to see that maybe, just maybe, they're adjusting their price structure to make it more affordable without having to threaten to cancel every 6-12 months.

The chat was super easy and took about 15 minutes, and now I (hopefully) won't have to set a reminder to do this again in a few months

I get on their website and chat with someone. I always end up getting it for around 7 dollars a month for a year when I say I’m going to cancel.

Im always surprised when I hear of people other than truckers that subscribe to SXM. Aside from the sports networks like MLB Radio I just don't see the appeal. Their DJ's are God awful and their music quality is pretty bad.

I like Sirius - use it quite a bit on road trips and around the house. Don’t mind paying the $8 for the service, but it is kind of annoying that they will triple the cost if you stop paying attention.

6-8 bucks a month is the standard. I think they get people by the auto renewal that some over look. That price is close to $300 I believe

Madison is the only one that's shite. She has to be sleeping with a higher up

What do you mean their music quality is bad? Classic vinyl for example or any of the specific genres

Some channels have more compression than others which makes them not sound as good, but overall it’s not that bad.

Same here. I make a note the week before my renewal every year. I have two autos with XM at a total of $12.5 a month for both.

I know it's the standard 'promotional rate' that expires in anywhere from 3-12 months depending on the deal, but this is not a promotional rate. The 'person' in the chat said, without my asking, that the rate was locked in and there was no expiration. The price isn't the important part- it's the fact that it's not a promotional rate.

Canceled the radio in my truck and just use the app, which is included with the subscription in my wife's van.

They call about once per week with GREAT deals.

I like it for Elvis Radio, the 70s on 7, The Bridge, and Radio Classics.

I negotiated my rate down to about 7 bucks a month (including the app) a year ago and haven’t looked back. Unless I’m Bluetoothing something from my phone, it stays on in my car. Only time I ever listen to terrestrial anymore is for LSU/Saints games.

My aunt always threatens to cancel. Has been doing it for 10+ years. I know at some point, she was able to consistently get $25 for 6 months every time. Took about 10 minutes worth of phone calls.

That was a couple years ago. I haven't asked since then, but I imagine that the price you have now is fairly competitive after inflation.

People often ask why so many are still subscribed to cable. The same thing can be said about satellite radio. Hard to believe that it’s still a thing in today’s atmosphere of podcasts and on demand streaming.

Wife and I had separate SiriusXM subscriptions forever, last month was that time to call or chat w/threat to cancel to get the cheaper rate because it had gone up to $20-something.. I thought, wtf are we doing, on road trips we spend more time scrolling around SiriusXM than we do listening, and we pay $10 monthly for Apple Music. So we canceled.

As much as I dislike Apple in general, I like the iPhone platform and I love Apple Music.

In the process of doing it now, they offered the same plan for $5.99/mo for 24 months.

Have 2 cars, applied to both and am now trying to get a credit for the $300+ auto renewal I just paid in August.

Thanks for the heads up!

Update: was able to get credited for last auto renewal plus much lower rates. Fairly painless process using online chat.
