Loyal customers shouldn’t have to threaten to cancel a service constantly.

Reward those customers. Don’t make them waste half an afternoon at least twice a year dealing with customer service and threatening to cancel to get some “special” or “deal”.
It's not like that anymore.

Just did my biannual phone call (im Gen X so i dont like chat) to negotiate my Sirius XM service.. their call center is in the Philippines, so i like to explain that the cost of living is so high in America that i can no longer afford Sirius XM , even though ive been a loyal customer for the last 16 or 17 years.. even though their cost of living is super low, they usually know what i mean.. so after poor-mouthing for a minute or two, i say i have to cancel- UNLESS they are able to offer me “the same deal i had last time “, which in this case was $67 all in for 6 months ($11 per month).. well they now have a new plan, since they are wise to us, where the Filipina explained that ‘Sir instead of calling every few months to negotiate, we have the advantage plan’.. what it is is they charge you $13 per month, instead of paying upfront for 6 mo or one year.. she said it goes on in perpetuity, even though i seriously doubt they wont have “rate increases” at some point.. after haggling a little more, and sprinkling in some Tagalog like ‘Kamusta’ and ‘Salamat’- i got her to lower the advantage plan if i pay for one year upfront, so i wound up paying $94 for one year, which is $7.83 per month, all in including taxes and fees.. including Howard Stern and live sports, plus the app on my phone for when im working out.. ive tried Spotify, Pandora et al and dont like them, plus i dont think they have all the espns and Fox Sports channels i love, though I could be wrong……. Anyway, i thought it was a pretty good deal .

TLDR- got 1 yr Sirius XM Platinum plus app for $7.83 per month

You've never listened to Mike Terry on Prime, obviously.

Great pipes. He's also the host of The Opry.

Had them for a while. (1) I do not like their business model of "lets require a credit card and hope he forgets to call and cancel" (2) lets hassle hell out of him if he does try to cancel. Add to that - DJs who can not comprehend that people want to listen to music, not them, and I was done. I get calls ever few months offering fantastic rates to renew and I tell them I will send them the money up front but no credit card info. They refuse every time

To be fair- isnt that the business model of pretty much *every* company these days ? Or at least, most companies ?

It has always been CD quality at best.

Oh, and the DJ's suck. I remember when most were VJ's.

But at least there is a punk rock station.

I like it XM because I can listen to any LSU or SEC game while I’m on the road.
Also like fox news during election season

I quit SiriusXM 2 years ago but after 2 years they sent me an offer of 3.99 per month for a year so I re-upped.

Not that great of stations but I like CoffeeHouse, Lithium, XMU. I live in an area that has no college/indy/alternative rock so it’s the best I can do. I actually think the best thing about signing up for Sirius is the streaming stations on the app. You only get like 5 skips per hour but it’s good to have if you go for a jog or are outside your car.

Sirius is def something I will not pay more than the bare minimum for. If they even up my price a $1 a month I’m out

Just renewed for 8.99 a month for the next two years (Platinum). Their DJ’s do suck, but I’ve had Sirius for over 15+ years so I can stream if need be.

I got that too with everything. They will do anything to keep you from leaving. They gave me some portable radios years ago and a cheap deal

What do you mean their music quality is bad? Classic vinyl for example or any of the specific genres

yall getting robbed. You can get 3 years for $99. That's $2.75 a month.

The fine print for that price says
“ This offer is available by invitation only. You must have received a direct communication from SiriusXM inviting you to this offer and stating the vehicles eligible for this offer. This offer is not available on any other vehicles.”

You may be able to get it as part of a “please come back” offer in some cases or something, but it doesn’t sound like this is just some price point you can haggle your way into. I’m up for renewal later this month and I’ll be going through the song and dance, so we’ll see.

Im always surprised when I hear of people other than truckers that subscribe to SXM. Aside from the sports networks like MLB Radio I just don't see the appeal. Their DJ's are God awful and their music quality is pretty bad.

Patriot Channel bruh.

My favorite for long drives.

You just answered ur own question.. Well, not MLB for me- but NFL, NCAA, et al.. Sirius XM has dozens of sports channels from espn to Mad Dog to Fox Sports and more.. for those of us who drive a lot (not just truckers) it’s way better, IMO, than Spotify or Pandora or podcasts or whatever… i mean, if there were a way to get all those live sports channels, politics, news AND music for free, or for less than the $7 per month that i pay- then i am all ears , but im not aware of any .
