That Mozilla Foundation report on Vehicle and Personal Data Security really makes me want to stay away from Sirius XM as it's one of the main ways that personal data is collected and shared.
From Sirius XM's Privacy Policy
And unless you're in select states, you have no right/control over that data.
From Sirius XM's Privacy Policy

3. Summary of Sirius XM Key Personal Data Practices
This section presents a summary of our key personal data practices. Please see the Sirius XM Data Collection and Use Table at the end of this Policy to review details about the (1) categories of personal data we collect, (2) purposes for which we collect that information, (3) categories of third parties to whom that information may be disclosed for a business purpose and (4) categories of third parties to whom the information may be sold for monetary value or other valuable consideration or shared for cross contextual behavioral advertising/targeted advertising. We encourage you to read the Table carefully
We collect personal data about you from you directly, automatically through your use of the Services, and from third parties. The categories of information we collect that may be considered “personal data” under applicable law include: 1.Registration Data, 2.Vehicle Data, 3.Payment Data, 4.Sensitive Personal Data, 5.Other Demographic Data, 6.Transaction Information, 7.Listening Preferences, 8. Account Information and Settings, 9.Device Data, 10.Audio and Visual Data, 11.Geolocation Data (including precise geolocation with your consent). Please review the “Additional Details About our Data Practices” section for more information. We may also use personal data about you to troubleshoot and improve the Services, to develop new products and services, and to maintain and protect our systems and your personal data. If you access the Services using an in-vehicle SiriusXM radio, please also review the “Supplemental Information for Users of SiriusXM In-Vehicle Services” section for in-vehicle specific information.
We may share your personal data for business purposes with our subsidiaries, third party service providers, vendors and licensors, other Sirius XM users when you provide access to your subscription, and unaffiliated third-party business relationships for business and advertising purposes. For more details, please review “Disclosures to Third Parties” section. Please note, if you choose to participate in community forums and similar features on the Services or make requests to on air hosts, the information you share will become public.
Sirius XM engages third party businesses for a variety of business and commercial purposes, including service providers of technology, customer care support, marketing, and payment processing. Sirius XM works with advertisers, advertising agencies, and providers of ad-related services such as attribution, measurement, and analytics, who may set and access their own tracking technologies (like cookies tags or pixels) on your device. They may use this information to serve and measure performance of ads for the Services when placed on third party publishers and channels, to serve and measure performance of third party advertisers’ ads on the Services, and to provide us with information regarding the use of the Services and the effectiveness of ads. For more information, including your opt-out choices, please review the “Third Party Advertising and Analytics/Privacy Controls” section and the information set forth in the Table at the end of this Privacy Policy. This practice may be considered sale or regulated sharing under certain US state laws and residents of those states may have additional rights. For more information, please review the “State Specific Rights” section.
And unless you're in select states, you have no right/control over that data.

I wish they made a portable/handheld tuner that was battery operated.
I know that's essentially what having the app on my phone is but I can rarely let the app play continuously for hours on end.

yall getting robbed. You can get 3 years for $99. That's $2.75 a month.
You have to wonder how many people who decided to drop them after getting fed up with their never ending moving target pricing practices and trying to rope you in to paying over $200 a year, would have just happily stayed on, even in the face of other streaming services (it still works better than streaming from a phone for a lot of people and in a lot of areas), if they would have just come out and said to everyone, here's our set price, $99 for 3 years no haggle, no nothing. Thanks for your patronage!

Im always surprised when I hear of people other than truckers that subscribe to SXM. Aside from the sports networks like MLB Radio I just don't see the appeal. Their DJ's are God awful and their music quality is pretty bad.

Guy on the chat just told me the 3 years for $99 deal wasn't available any longer.

I use xm so I don’t have to browse my phone for something to listen to

I subscribed this week. We don't have any radio stations here and I really miss sports talk radio. I pretty much use it for sports talk and market updates.

Thanks for reminding me. I just got off a chat with them, and had my rate dropped.

The iHeart radio app is free, and you can listen to your hometown sports talk station even if you are hundreds of miles away.

It has been a few months ago but I called them to do the typical back and forth dance if threatening to drop them and all. I was pleasantly surprised when the guy offered me a year service for 49 and some change and this was a permanent price. I guess they finally wised up and realized to just give ppl what they end up giving anyway after a little arguing

I'm paying $8/month. I mostly listen to Lithium and MLB Network

I've been paying almost $30/month for years for SiriusXM. I use it constantly though; listen all day at work on the web player and in the car too. I have the Platinum subscription.
I just started an online chat with them. Hoping I can get a reduction.
ETA: Holy shite, it literally took 5 minutes and they gave me the promotional rate of 8.99/month for the next 12 months. So glad I read this thread. Thanks to everyone in here for the tip!!

I see. No worries, Since we valued you here, I can definitely offer you the cheapest promotional plan we have for Platinum Plan which is the $8.99/month plus fees and taxes. That is $10.91/month including fees and taxes Comparing to your current rate $29.12/month, You can save $18 every month with this amazing promotional plan. And I am happy because this promotional plan is not eligible for all the radios and luckily, your car can get that rate for 1 year.

People often ask why so many are still subscribed to cable. The same thing can be said about satellite radio. Hard to believe that it’s still a thing in today’s atmosphere of podcasts and on demand streaming.
If you travel often for work and have to go through spotty cell coverage on a regular basis it comes in handy

I had SiriusXM for about 6 years and always threatened to cancel to keep getting the promo rate. Eventually they raised it from about $72 a year to $96 and I cancelled for good.
There just aren’t enough good stations on the platform and all the DJs talk WAY too much. If I buy satellite radio I want non-stop commercial free songs and you don’t get that on Sirius.
If you like Christian music it’s pointless to buy Sirius bc the OTA stations are better formatted with few if any commercials.

I guess this is why they make people call and haggle every year- there are still people out there that either don't know or just don't do it
Now set a reminder on your phone/calendar for 9/1/2024. Hop back on the chat, tell them you like the service, but it's not worth/you don't want to pay the full price, and they'll do it again +/- a few dollars

The package that came with my Tacoma for 6 months free also included all the live sports I could handle. NFL, NCAA, MLB etc.
Which package is that and is that still available on the platform? I assume that one costs a fortune though, but it was absolutely phenomenal
