Franternity trip to Pigeon Forge in the Smokey mountains 2012. Had to take the steaks off the grill and chase a mamma black bear off the porch with pots and pans. Two cubs scurried up the trees and watched while we yelled at their mamma. Friend tried to feed a raccoon by hand later that night out of the hot tub and got bit. Had to do a round of rabies vaccinations….. great weekend.

They're prevalent in Eastern KY in the mountains, not so much here in Central KY. Seen plenty over the years out there as well as in Tennessee and North Carolina.

Had one sniffing around my front door in southern WI.

Let's just say they sniff a lot louder than a dog.

I see them a few times per year on LA65 south of Tallulah, LA. In fact, I saw one in that area last weekend.

A black bear can kill a grown man with no problem.

Ask anyone who’s ever wrestled a bear at a bar. They’re strong as frick. I know 2 guys that have done it and they both said the same thing. If the bear wasn’t de-clawed and didn’t have a muzzle on, they’d be dead.

I lived in Gulf county fla, which is in the panhandle. The whole county is completely overrun. They did a culling back in 15 or 16. Killed a couple hundred in one day. Need to do it again
frick, they had one in the surf recently on the beach.

One of the few things I have never seen at a WI bar.

Black bears just generally don't feel like messing with people. There is no way I'd want to deal with one having a shitty day. Or get between a momma and her cubs.

She might not eat me like a griz but I'd probably come out of it worse for wear.

They used to have these in the south in the 80’s.

You’d pay like $20 to wrestle the bear and if you pinned it you’d win like $1,000. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone winning.

My buddy from Raceland is about 6’ tall and about 220 pound strong arse country boy. He said that bear threw him around like a rag doll and was fast as frick. He said when it pinned him, it was trying to bite his face and head but had a muzzle on. He said he could hear it’s teeth clacking and it had the worst breath he ever smelled.

That shits crazy.

I'm sure the PETA crowd killed that "sport".

We get some big blacks here in WI. This one was 780lbs.

The one outside my front door wasn't anywhere near that big (fat). I'd guess it was pushing 300 though. Wasn't a young one.

Yeah that’s a freakin’ monster.

My buddy said he’d estimate the bear he wrestled was probably 250-300 lbs.

Saw a juvenile Black Bear in my backyard in Roswell, GA of all places. It scared me because I’d been letting my at the time 3/yo play out there semi attended. It was in a neighborhood and we had a 6’ privacy fence.

My wife’s shitty little schnauzer was losing its mind and chased it across the yard and it jumped the fence. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I still laugh thinking about it. I stopped calling that dog a shiteater and gave it the honorary title of “Bear dog” from that day forward.
