Currently live in Dallas. Got a job offer in Austin, 3K pay raise, better 401k. No kids. Slampiece in Dallas. What’s the OT say?

It's Austin. I'm sure you can find a new dude to slam you in the arse.

Move. My Aggie son loves it. Now I'm not so hot on Austin because of the crazy people but considering the plusses and minuses, go for it!

3 k will not offset the cost of living

But Austin is nice if you stay away from the ghetto surrounding and in parts of downtown and campus

100% Move. Don't even think twice. It's a no-brainer.

Eh, it's comparable. It's entirely up to the OP. Personally I'd pick Dallas just because it's more my speed than the keep Austin weird vibe, but that's completely subjective. Financially it's pretty much a toss up.

Do you really think the cost of living is that different between Dallas and Austin?

I think there are actually other factors to consider.. Personally, i like Austin better than Dallas.. but $3k, while a decent raise, combined with a better 401k doesnt make it a no-brainer.. What does the OP value? Outdoor activities, great music scene? If so then Austin.. if he wants a bigger city with a better airport to fly wherever in the world you want to go (from Austin you almost always have a layover), professional sports venues? Then Dallas might be better.

Unless you’re kind of entry level, $3k either way wouldnt be a determining factor.
