No, I'm not sure I've ever been to shake shack and certainly not defending them or the "technology provider." I'm just pointing out the stupidity behind the comments suggesting a consulting business getting in a public dispute with their clients.

I love when they hand you the Ipad or POS device, turn their heads as if you are filling out a secret ballot like they can't see it as soon as you give it back and say "It's going to ask you a couple of questions then you just hit 'confirm'."

People don't understand this but shake shack doesn't run the airport shake shack. It's strictly licensing. Popeyes in the ATL airport isn't run by popeyes. Airports operate completely differently than normal franchises.

Let's use common sense here: If you're running a company are you going to implement this policy and think no one will notice or complain? Definitely some type of programming error

These morons dont understand that there's a group of people like me who wont use your service if you ask for a tip. I haven't had pizza delivered in 2 decades because of that, the OG tip outside of restaurants. The company should cover your gas and vehicle depreciation through wages, not me, especially if there's a delivery fee. THATS the coverage. I only tip at restaurants. If you prompt me for a tip then I'll bite the bullet and never be back.
Everything is expensive as hell already and you want FREE money on top of it? Way to put your consumer base off.

I'm wiht ya in spirit but I meeeeean I can't really count a pizza delivery dude in here ha. They are getting in the car and actually driving to my house and putting pizza in my hand. That's worth a couple bucks to the driver. Definitely NOT the same as the lady in the drive through window simply handing me the bag of food I already paid for.

Popeye's doesn't run Popeye's either, its a franchise. Just like most franchises.
Shake Shack absolutely is involved in their training, software, ingredients, food supplies, etc.
Your point is almost completely invalid. All those companies are really doing is supplying the labor and financial backing.
This is like Popeye's suggesting that one franchise owner doesn't represent all Popeye's owners, but then multiple Popeye's owners are all doing the same thing...

Yeah, tipping is out of control, but if there's one person you tip.. it's the person driving hot food to your fat arse on the sofa

I read 3 days ago the actual reason for the price jump was a late night hours surcharge, not declining to tip.
Either way i wonder if he hit to tip if the increase would have occurred.

Exactly!
They are trying to get you, the customer, to pay 18%, 20%, 25% more by trying guilt you into agreeing to do so as a "tip" rather than the amount being the actual price of the item. You're overpaying the "list" price thinking you are helping the worker. But in reality, you are just paying the amount the business actually would like to charge for the item...probably more.
While I may be inclined to tip a waiter who actually served me over the course of a meal, I'm not tipping 20% or even $1 for simply taking my order at the counter

I wonder what percent are of those digital tips actually make it back to the workers vs. an actual tip jar that gets split at the end of the shift.
