do you own a shake shack franchise or something?

No, I'm not sure I've ever been to shake shack and certainly not defending them or the "technology provider." I'm just pointing out the stupidity behind the comments suggesting a consulting business getting in a public dispute with their clients.

You think it's a great idea; go for it! At this point I really don't care.

I love when they hand you the Ipad or POS device, turn their heads as if you are filling out a secret ballot like they can't see it as soon as you give it back and say "It's going to ask you a couple of questions then you just hit 'confirm'."

Just go ahead and say "Pick a tip % then give it back to me."

People don't understand this but shake shack doesn't run the airport shake shack. It's strictly licensing. Popeyes in the ATL airport isn't run by popeyes. Airports operate completely differently than normal franchises.

i agree. but the big problem is that companies are using this as a passthrough to pay employees more (and undoubtedly themselves) without a directly corresponding price increase.

A company usually runs an entire airport terminal. The places there are strictly licensing agreements. Every single branded thing there is ran buy one company. So, shake shack is being run by the same folks running Starbucks.

Those are all strictly run by HMSHost or SSP America.

Let's use common sense here: If you're running a company are you going to implement this policy and think no one will notice or complain? Definitely some type of programming error

I went through dunkin drive through this morning to get my kid breakfast. The machine apparently went down because it was a much longer wait in line than you'd expect (there was only 1 car ahead of us). When it is time to take payment and I give my card she asks if I want to add any tip. At a drive through! frick no I don't.

These morons dont understand that there's a group of people like me who wont use your service if you ask for a tip. I haven't had pizza delivered in 2 decades because of that, the OG tip outside of restaurants. The company should cover your gas and vehicle depreciation through wages, not me, especially if there's a delivery fee. THATS the coverage. I only tip at restaurants. If you prompt me for a tip then I'll bite the bullet and never be back.

Everything is expensive as hell already and you want FREE money on top of it? Way to put your consumer base off.

Pay cash

See the thread from last week about private businesses not accepting cash. Not always an option, and I bet it is certainly that way at many airports.

this nonsense needs to end. Tipping is for when someone goes above and beyond their job requirements.
