The video shows two of the three shakes initially listed at $5.99 each. After "no tip" is selected, the kiosk displays a notice saying there has been a pricing update before the shakes appear at $6.49 each — an increase of 50 cents per drink. Shake Shack told Fox News Digital the price change was caused by a technology error and that charging customers more for declining to tip is not company policy.

Ooops our bad. Shake Shack busted

The software company needs to come out and tell everyone it was a requirement from shake shack and to frick off.

Just keep an eye on this when you go to these establishments. Demand a manager and call corporate if this happens to you. Also let us know at TD OT .

If it is truly an error, why does the company always happen to be on the charging too much wide? Those never ever end up with the customer paying less

Hit "Custom Tip"
Enter "-100%"

Problem solved.

Yeah because sharing confidential information and publicly shaming your clients usually works out great companies.

I went through dunkin drive through this morning to get my kid breakfast. The machine apparently went down because it was a much longer wait in line than you'd expect (there was only 1 car ahead of us). When it is time to take payment and I give my card she asks if I want to add any tip. At a drive through! frick no I don't.

i agree. but the big problem is that companies are using this as a passthrough to pay employees more (and undoubtedly themselves) without a directly corresponding price increase.

Cruise lines now add 20% or more to everything and its proven now that its a fee and not a gratuity as the money leaves the ship and goes to corporate.

I'm sure the software company would rather go out of business from all of their clients leaving them than throw one client under the bus.

10 years ago (time flies) I went through a Greek/Lebanese drive thru in Baton Rouge and they hit me up for a tip. First time it had ever happened to me. I posted about it that night on here and everyone said “that’s just their POS system. No one expects you to tip at the drive thru!” Here we are today and it’s a common request.
