I have two kids in daycare, you almost may as well send em to school as that’s where they got it from anyway. School is a damn germ factory.

daycare is just bootcamp for the immune system

If you see symptoms, essentially everyone has already been exposed.

All of my kids have had it, one had in 3 times within a year. But this is the problem with HFM, and just about any infectious disease. Once the blisters start showing, the little sponges have already had it for a few day.

In my non-medical experience, the people saying they have had to keep their kids out for 7 days either had extreme cases or the schools have rigorous protocols. Once the blisters start healing over and the kid has been fever free for at least 24 hours every Dr we've spoken to said they are good to return.

We found at our nursery the issue was the teacher's would wear the same gloves while changing all of the diapers at the set schedules. They would also help feed multiple children at once and would occasionally use the same spoon for multiple kids.

Poor people have to work 2-3 jobs to pay rent. They can't afford daycare.

The poor always send sick kids to school. They can't afford daycare and can't afford to take a day off. It sucks, but nothing new.

I've never had a job that didn't offer sick time. Even when I was poor and working at McDonald's. They were more strict about requiring doctor's notes, but never completely unreasonable.

Kind of shitty to send your kids to school infectious when there's essentially a 100% chance that it will get spread, especially for younger children.

The Indians at my kids' preschool constantly did this, including when they had lice. They'd drop them off with green shite coming out of their noses, only to have the school find a 102 degree fever, and then call the parents to come pick the kid up within the hour. Shitty, shitty, thing to do.

I keep them home. 2 kids over the stretch of 3 weeks. Of course they couldn't get it at the exact same time.

Miserable 3 weeks trying to work and care for them.

Ever since my grandson started daycare, he’s been sick. Nasty colds, snotty nose, Covid (unsure if Covid was caught at daycare), and HFM. In less than 3 mos. He’s 1 1/2 years old. Doc says better to build immune system now than real school and isn’t concerned. Facility is clean. Parents worked their schedules 1st year to keep him home but decided it would be good for him to go and mom get back to more working.

Wrong. Some work multiple jobs PRN bc pay is higher and they can choose to work when they want or need. Definitely doesn’t mean poor. And the poor can’t afford daycare unless it’s gov subsidized.

My son had it recently. Had to keep him out almost two full weeks. Had blisters all over his body.

Trademark of the trashy trade to send their kid to school sick.

In the case of HF&M, it’s only contagious if any of the sores are open/oozing and accompanied by fever. The spots will last for a long time, no point in keeping them home once they’re no longer oozing.

that’s not true - you can get it from saliva or mucus

Which means it can be picked up from contaminated surfaces.

You do realize the kid is contagious before they even show symptoms right? So by the time the bumps come out the kid is no longer contagious.

I went to Houston to babysit my grandson who had it. His dad (my son) ended up with it and it was pretty awful — fever to 103 and ulcers in his mouth (of course) and in his beard and feet.

He was miserable .. the toddler never acted differently.

So glad I didn’t get it.
