It’s not unique until it’s at least triple headed

What are some tips you can share with us mere mortals?
And do you ship your hats in boxes or mailers?

This is why I don't sell on Ebay. One guy scammed me out of a TMNT figure claiming it was never received. I had delivery confirm. That was the endbof my time on Ebay.

They never seem to side with the seller.

Maybe your original purchase receipt had the serial number when you first purchased it.

I used to sell on Ebay and made a decent side income of $400 to $1000 a month from selling garage sale finds. I quit around 2014 because of things like this. I almost got kicked off and finally gave it up after the time spent didn't add up.

Did you ever say what the item is? There’s a group of people out there that will order something off eBay and jerk off on it then send it back. If it’s anything remotely sexual I’d be careful when you get it back. It’s very common with shoes and office equipment.

I haven’t sold much on eBay and it had been a very long time since I had, about 2 weeks ago I put up an electronic device for auction, winning bidder paid me, I shipped next day and funds were put on hold by eBay and then finally released to my bank account.

the device definitely worked when I shipped out, that I am absolutely certain. buyer is claiming device doesn’t work. I offered no returns. I think it is a case of buyer’s remorse. Now eBay is taking back the funds that I was paid.

I’m not sure if there is anything I can do — is this a case if he said she said and the buyer is always right and will get their money back? even if I said no returns?

Been selling on ebay for 20 years. It has gotten unbearable. Ebay does NOTHING to protect the seller, only the buyer. The seller has no rights on returns as buyers have learned that they can select a specific reason regardless of your return rules. I am getting rid of everything I planned on selling in order to stop ebay. Just not worth it anymore.

eBay sides with the buyer 99/100 times.

Don't even try to fight it. Take the L.

eta. Mercari is much better for sellers but they don't get near the traffic that eBay does and now their fees are slightly more than eBay. They do have better flat shipping rates.

If it went to College Station, it’s not just remotely sexual by now.

EBay is still easily, far and away the best online marketplace for at least used goods but new goods as well. Their website layout and search refinement categories blow Amazon out of the fricking water. Amazon is the Myspace of online marketplaces and eBay is more like early Facebook. Plus Amazon doesn't have shite for used goods. Like industrial goods, tools, etc.

I've been using eBay since the very beginning of the website and I've only ever had one or two issues. And eBay is really, really good about taking care of these kind of issues. As is PayPal. Your experience is an outlier.

This happened to me, too.

FB marketplace

Better than Amazon but still a junk arse fricking website with virtually no category refinement and a bunch of ads and other bullshite sellers that "ships to you". And the people that place ads on Facebook Marketplace don't offer hardly any description and like maybe one grainy arse picture taken with a potato. And Facebook offers no protection for the products that are bought and sold.

I haven't been scammed yet but feel like it happens to everyone that sells.

Feel like many items are definitely more prone to being scammed over others.

Thankfully I don't mess with electronics since it has one of the worst buyer pools on eBay, but you don't have to give the refund as long as the buyer ships the device back to you. eBay will still keep the funds on hold until the return date has passed, but the funds will be returned until it is shown delivered back to you.

Even then, you can try to fight it out with eBay if they send you a defective item back that was not the same as the one you sold. Very little chance of them siding with you, but as long as you have clear pictures and documentation, you have a chance

Edit: I've made probably 500 sales in the past year, probably 99% success rate, but there are always a few shitty buyers out there.

You can also still accept paypal payments even through eBay's seller portal, you just have to set it up and set it as your default payment option. I don't do it since you get doubled down on with fees (ebay fees + paypal fees). Getting rid of the paypal fees adds up when you do enough volume

Started and stopped selling many times on ebay. Buyers have become way more demanding. If its a day late than the earliest possible time then they freak out. Electronics are the worst things to sell. Sell bulk wholesale stuff from china, then returns aren't a big deal

This is true but it's true for anything. Most people are used to being buyers not sellers so they don't know all the bullshite that comes with being a seller. It's not an eBay specific problem. In fact, if you are going to sell online, eBay is still the best for a myriad of different reasons other than maybe selling in person, locally in the classifieds. Which these days they call Facebook Marketplace.

FB Marketplace has the most critters trying to buy stuff. They will start a convo, sounds fine and then no show. I got so tired of dealing with people on there.

Deals definitely to be had on the buying side.
