Quit eBay after 20 year when a user demanded refund on not refundable sold as is item and eBay allowed it. Cancelled and have not looked back.

How can eBay take back funds that are in your bank account?

Doesn’t the purchaser have to buy shipping insurance? The seller shipped it to the purchaser. The purchaser received the shipment.

If you sell on eBay Now, eBay has full access to your bank account.

I sold a $2,000 train on eBay and found out they were going to hold the money until the by the buyer and the buyer expressed that he was satisfied with the train. I sort of do the buyer so I called him and he agreed to cancel the transaction. It took me several months to get the commission back from eBay. I kept telling them that I did not intend to sell it c o d and that is exactly what they do when they hold the funds until the buyer says that he or she is happy with it.

No occasional or small sellers should sell on eBay anymore.

That’s why I have a small checking acct set up through my Credit Union. I use it only for eBay and my play money.

If you know how to sell on eBay, it’s still the best place to sell. I have more problems on FB marketplace with scammers, etc.

You still have the largest buyer pool with eBay.

What about Paypall Protection. How do they compare?

eBay has nothing to do with PayPal anymore (except to pay for postage as a seller)

possible, but it was packaged air tight with bubble wrap. I guess I have no choice but to accept the return, but i am very skeptical that something has been swapped.

or the device truly works and he is just saying it doesn’t.

I have had USPS and UPS break items that I have shipped in the last couple months. It is entirely possible it doesn't work. Have the buyer document the damage, either with pics or a video of him trying to use the device.

Except when you win an auction and the seller refuses to complete the transaction, has happened to me multiple times, and they don't even get hit for it. They can cancel with no repercussion and you can't leave feedback.

You're going to be lucky to just get your working device back. Non zero chance you get nothing back, or something completely different. This is why a lot of people have moved away from Ebay as a marketplace. Too many buyers are scammers.

It has been that way for years, though. It was that way when I first started selling. Until you reached a certain number of sales with positive feedback, a hold was put on the payment. That hold wasn't managed by Ebay, though. It was managed by PayPal. Generally, all it took was the item being delivered. You didn't have to wait for the feedback to come in. In regards to the funds and the hold, they equated no feedback to positive feedback. The hold was usually removed within a day or two of the item arriving to the seller's address.

That policy didn't last long, though. Once you reached some small number of successful sales with no negative feedback, your funds hit your account immediately upon payment from the buyer.
