Looks like you did and I was demonstrating that it isn't unique to conservatives and probably worse in non conservative areas.

People shouldn’t use straws anyway

Honestly, you are suspect if you use a straw as a guy

Now you're playing games just to try to be correct as evidenced by your paragraph after this. The FQ is a tourist area and would not be used by me to make my point about litter not happily tossed out by Conservatives as you asserted.

Nice copy and paste job. You ignored the rest of my comment.

You know there are other, more prevalent forms of litter, right? If they really wanted to make an actual difference, they would ban wrappers, bags, cups, and cans. Is that good enough for you? The straw issue is simply the hot topic of the day for the environmental hipsters, so Seattle wants to get in on the virtue signaling.

So businesses and industry are conservative?

Again, I have no problem with reasonable air and water pollution laws. We are talkimg about straws and litter tossed by individuals.

I don't support banning straws because other, more onerous laws will follow such as governmental mileage monitoring.

I wish we were better at policing ourselves on this issue.

Straws aren't being banned though. It's just the plastic ones.

And now you are just arguing semantics to avoid conceding to the facts. I have literally been involved in discussions with large groups that I know to be conservatives at Tiger games, crawfish boils, festivals, etc. speak and laugh about how much they love revving up their jacked up diesels and blowing smoke plumes in the face of people driving a hybrid. I have been at gatherings on the Amite where people don't give 2 shits about throwing the bottles and fiberglass cigarette butts into the river. I say something and the only response is "aww frick that liberal bullshite" I guy was recently beaten to death on the Pearl for doing that. So yeah, I absolutely do know first-hand that many conservatives think it is cool! That being said, by no means am I saying they are the only culprits. Everyone just needs to take it a little more seriously and educate themselves on the negative affects.

It's partially hot topic, and partially just so easy to do without. Just like grocery bags, it's easy to bring re-usable bags. I am not against banning plastic bags. Still use them when we forget. But I bring re-usable bags when we remember because it's just so damned easy. Living without straws would be so damned easy. I'm not for making them illegal, but if we can somehow sway people to just not use them all the damned time, I'm all for it.

Well you were until this post. So now we agree. AMD yes people need to take littering more seriously, but we do not need a law banning straws. I do not like where that will eventually lead.

Actually I’d did. It’s not the government’s right to determine what two, consenting adults choose to do. The government shouldn’t be in the marriage business at all, and that includes taxes.

It’s not and I don’t think anyone is saying it is. The biggest conservationist and environmentalist are outdoorsmen.

What we don’t want is people mandating stupid things like this

Gulf dead zone was caused by putting levees along the MS River, not allowing it to flood and deposit all of the silt and nutrients into its natural flood plain. Also the river used to discharge over a wide area. Now it’s just the MRGO
