A search firm will help Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome's administration identify candidates for the chief administrative officer position after nine months of looking for somebody to permanently fill the No. 2 position in City Hall.
Broome's administration has not publicly announced the use of the search firm or the name of it. But the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and Baton Rouge Area Chamber have agreed to help pay for it, according to BRAF.
"BRAF has agreed to partner with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber to split the cost to help the mayor identify candidates for the CAO position," said John Spain, executive vice president of BRAF.
Spain said BRAF has not paid out any money yet for the firm. BRAC President and CEO Adam Knapp and Interim Chief Administrative Officer James Llorens did not immediately return messages Monday.
Broome announced after she took office in January that she was starting a national search for a chief administrative officer, and kept William Daniel, the CAO from the previous administration, on as an interim.

If you get the right person, I guess it isn't a huge deal, but 9+ months of having an empty spot seems a bit much.

Well, if 9 plus months go by and you decide to turn to a search firm because you can't fill the spot, that isn't a good sign

Why are we on a nation wide hunt for this position?
Isn't the CAO supposed to have some local political capital?
10 months after she's elected, she still doesn't have a second in command.

Bruh, you gotta milk it for the catered lunch meetings about CAO selection.

Not to get all Poli Board on the OT but why are two avowed liberal private organizations funding anything for out City Parish Government? Does this mean they are going to be able to influence the candidates? Not sure about this.

You have no idea how offensive that is to carrots, who are smart enough to stay underground instead of run for office.

For an extra $300/hour, the search firm will conduct a linkedin search to find candidates.

The alternative is to let SWB handle it herself, so we're screwed either way.

Pretty pathetic that two outside groups have to get involved to make sure Sharon can find a compentent CAO.
