There is very little difference between an early 90s Bill Clinton speech and a Trump speech. Most Dems don’t even realize it. Dems used to at least pretend to want border control and many even wanted tariffs to protect American workers and industry.

This is such a media driven talking point that republicans have accepted to the point of turning the country over to communists. There are no boots on the ground. Filling up your wife’s Tahoe costs $20 now at the moment. That’s the only effect anyone feels. To pretend that this war rivals W’s Iraq invasion or Vietnam is absurd. You wouldn’t even know this war was going on if the media didn’t remind you. Had Trump committed ground troops then you’d have a point.
I expect Trump believed the rest of the west, who has been plagued by Iranian backed terrorism, would help. He overestimated Europe. They’re beholden to Islamics and would rather tolerate constant bombings than lift a finger.
