This pretty much sums up ultra liberal philosophy in one statement.

quote:

"He is a deeply troubled young man; a child that has endured significant loss," Gordon Weekes, chief assistant for Broward County's public defender's office, told reporters Thursday. "He fell between the cracks and we have to try to save him now."

I get that the kid had a shite life but that doesn't factor in when you kill 17 people.

FWIW, people had wondered if he was on meds and it is confirmed now. I definitely see a correlation between medicating these kids and them going off the edge.

quote:

According to reports, Cruz and his brother both suffered from mental health issues, including ADHD and OCD, and took medication as treatment. Cruz's lawyer said Thursday her client was "a broken human being" and the team was looking into an evaluation for autism.

I’ll help him, give me a baseball bat.

ETA: To clarify I agree it is the attorney's job and not faulting the defense attorney...I just think he should be beaten with a baseball bat daily.

No, it pretty much sums up a defense attorney doing their job in one statement.

You know the lawyer's duty is to defend her client right?

Public defenders don't have many options in these cases but to take this route.

She'd be disciplined if she came out and said "frick it, light him up."

you see a correlation between mentally/biologically deficient people requiring medicine and mentally/biologically deficient people acting out in anti-social ways? you're a regular Sherlock Holmes

I believe the cure for all his woes can be found at the end of a rope.

The "save him now" part is probably a bit tone deaf but yeah

I'm sure he's a broken human being, I doubt he just got to this point because he consciously decided to be fricked up and evil

I listen to Mark Levin pretty much daily, a bunch of parents called in the last couple of days talking about the medications children are put on these days. They think all the various diagnoses and medications children are put on at an early age nowadays is partly to blame for a lot of this type of behavior.

I’m not a parent nor am I a doctor or pharmacist, I don’t know if that’s the case or not. Anybody got any thoughts behind that premise?
