My dad always preached to us growing up...
"Never pull a gun and conduct show-and-tell. Be damn sure the circumstance is correct, and if/when you pull the gun, use it quickly and accurately."

Yeah just make sure you kill the clerk and any other customers in the gas station so there's no witnesses, also might want to burn down the gas station to destroy any evidence..

I would call local law enforcement to get the correct answer before following and advice given on this board.
Well that's completely unnecessary. In Louisiana, you are allowed to use deadly force if someone is threatening your life or someone else's. This is a fact.

If I'm at a gas station getting a coke and a guy comes in and pulls a gun on the clerk, can I pull my gun on him and call the cops?

Damn, you are a pussy. Didn't you see Boogie Nights?
You pull your gun and blow that mother frickers head off.
Hah, that didn't end well for the hero in the donut shop in Boogie Nights...

What I was told in my class was never pull a gun unless you are in immediate danger. I've heard of someone protecting a cop by shooting someone that was smashing the cop's face in. He was exonerated in criminal court but spent years (and thousands of dollars) to be cleared in civil court. Unfortunately, these days sometimes it's better to stay out of it than to do what's right.

Can you in Louisiana...eh...yes.
Should you? Only if you intend to put him in the ground.
Smartest decision there is to draw your gun, crouch down, dial 911, wait it out.
A bullet fired though a glass door or windshield does not fly straight so it isnt like you can drop him from a distance.
Now if IN the store and it happens...eh.. I'll fire a shot into his head from behind a cooler. I wont be happy about it...but its the same situation if I see some little guy getting his arse kicked in a bar, I feel some obligation to break it up before someone gets hurt. Help those who cant help themselves.
Neither scenario is ideal. I dont enter gas stations for reasons like this, my gun is typically visible when I'm forced to get gas in a bad area...like fricking outskirts of el paso at 3 am.

I would much rather live with myself and the legal ramifications if I saved a potential innocents life and killed the aggressor, than to have the means to put an end to the situation and have it escalate to the point of death to an innocent.

My firearm is always within arm's reach when I have to get gas at the ghetto gas station in downtown BR.

That's a decision that every individual has to make.

Look, use common sense.
IMHO, you don't pull a gun unless you're going to fire.
This ain't TV, you don't yell "Freeze". That kind of crap will get your head blown off.
Think about it.

I would think yes but
There is no shame in going through a course that teaches you gun safety and discipline. Do it.

this, if you get someone arrested then you are the guy that got a crazy TPOS locked up, odds are he is n't going to forget that
quote:

also this
but as the OP described it, then you are protecting someone life who is in immediate danger of losing theirs, that is the whole point of carrying a firearm
