You're right, of course. I guess I was kind of emotionally typing before I'd really thought it through like that.

On a visit to the Louisiana State Capitol my dad held me over the rail on the observation deck. I've seen others do the same thing with kids. It's not unheard of.

I always like to say, think about how dumb the average American is...and then think about the fact that half of the country is more stupid than that person.

Scary.

So a lot of dads went to the Michael Jackson parenting school?

I think anyone who saw the video already knew this, and knew that it would appear he dropped her. Sad, but you knew this was the outcome.

This is going to make Thanksgiving awkward.

If i had done this to my child/grandchild, i would have jumped out of the window right behind them.

No way i could live with myself.

People dont just fall off of cruise ships. You have to be doing something stupid like climbing a rail, hanging a toddler out of a window, or get pushed. Period.

hopefully they will correct having 11th story windows with such easy access.

There was a railing. The railing the did its job. No adult would be able to trip overboard and the child could not have fallen off the boat unless an adult picked her up and dropped her overboard.

Don't blame Michael Jackson for that. According to Bham Bammer:

The hotel should "correct having 11th story windows with such easy access."

Daily Mail had an article yesterday where RC said they can no longer standby offering sympathy and support while the family trashes them in the media.

Grandpa is an idiot. He knew chloe had a habit of banging on glass. He held her up to the open window and she lurched forward to bang on glass that was not there.

Any fool knows that kids that age have to be held securely because they are fearless and can easily throw themselves forward and fall if not held correctly.

I have no problem with him being charged and convicted, especially in light of his lies and the fact the family is suing even though they know gramps was at fault.

This is all so terrible.

The authorities charged him with negligent homicide. They charged him, not the cruise line. HE, and only HE, was negligent. This is not a surprise... we all knew this from day one. He was careless with the kid and made a horrible, tragic mistake.

Him having to live with the consequences of that mistake is much worse than any prison sentence, which is why I think the charges are overkill.

But the way the family has blamed and sued the cruise line is insane. The cruise line has to be blunt in order to defend itself, which just means dragging this poor man through all of this again.

The family needs to let this go and mourn in private.
