Looks like grandpa is going to have to admit to family it was his fault. Just a terrible situation.

You should never outlive your children.

Yes, it is sad, but gramps f'ed up. Not the cruise line's fault. Not sure if jail is the right place for him. He'll have to live with his guilt till the day he dies.

Incredibly sad.

I always get extremely nervous when my kid is around things where they can fall or there are large heights. Mostly because I am afraid of heights. Or really the hitting the ground part.

I cannot imagine holding a child out of an open window.

Heartbreaking.

I'm not blaming the cruise line at all, but hopefully they will correct having 11th story windows with such easy access.

Unless there is some evidence of intent, I think living with what happened is more than sufficient accountability.

Grandpa should have known better.

I was taking the Galveston-Bolivar ferry one time, and the workers would yell at anyone who picked their child up while standing near the railing. It is so damn dangerous.

Its about the same as somebody holding a toddler over the balcony rails of an 11th floor beach condo. You aren’t going to say no more balconies just because one person was incredibly careless.

Kinda reminds me of this, minus the lies and lawsuit.

And continued to screw up by not owning up to his horrific mistake and allowing the family to sue the cruise line.

Family should have to repay Royal Caribbean for any legal fees.

These frivalous lawsuits should come with a penalty.

I'm assuming the rest of the family was unaware that his story was fabricated. This info is likely to f up the family dynamic even more.

They should just put up brick walls. That's the only truly safe option here.

Really? That's what we're going to go with?

Are we also against having open air balconies on hotels, office buildings, and apartments above the first floor for the same reason?

The problem is not that there was an open air window on the 11th floor with easy access. It's that a person was a fricking moron and it lead to the death of a baby.

Well, by pressing this lawsuit, they've also surfaced evidence that shows clear negligence by the grandfather. So congrats fam, you played yourselves.

or we could just hope people are smart enough to not dangle babies off 11th floor balconies for no reason
