Has there been any discussion on whether this was actually an accident? 34 seconds out the window after he had already stuck his head out the window. His story is obviously bullshite. But the video makes it seem so ridiculous that anyone would do something like that, it makes you wonder if it was really an accident

Im pretty sure it was an accident due to stupidity. The grandad loved chloe and i dont think it was on purpose.
He chose to do an incredibly stupid thing and chloe paid the ultimate price for grandpas stupidity.
The police believe it was an accident as well which s why he was charged with negligent manslaughter, which seems to indicate he is very much at fault but had no malice or motive.

We all knew this was a gramps making a mistake from day one. The ships are built to keep drunken retards, less jumpers, alive.
But then you read this... I would never float my kid outside a window to make him happy? as a joke? for any reason whatsoever...
Then 34 fricking seconds? Idiot Gramps should go to jail for this shite. I strongly assume it wasn’t intentional but imagine if idiot Gramps, a jolly old man, chose another child who wasn’t his. He’d be under the jail.

100% agreed. Its hard to process grief and come to terms with it when you are stuck in a stage of denial, anger and completely misdirected blame.
But i guess for them, it is less painful to blame RC rather than grandpa. Plus, by blaming RC, they think they will win their multimillion dollar lawsuit.
Its possible RC will settle with them for a lesser amount just to cut their losses rather than drag this out. But it seems RC is clearly not to blame and are tired of getting the blame and bad press over it.
I think they have had enough of the parents bullshite which is why the video was leaked. Plus they stated a few days ago that they are tired of being quiet except to offer sympathy and support to the family, while the family continually and unfairly bashes and blames them.

I agree. Not gonna say that’s the case, but it should absolutely be looked into. Pure stupidity. I’m also very surprised witnesses didn’t come forward as if I saw someone idiot dangling a kid over a balcony I would certainly notice it.
Eta: if I had to guess, now that this is released royal carribbean will likely offer them a small sum to shut up and move on to put this behind them.

I wonder if the grandpa just didn’t have the strength to get the kid back up over the wall, but also was embarrassed and didn't want to make a scene. Stupid or not, I can see someone holding a child outside a window that long on purpose.

The family did press conference type announcement in front of fraternal order of police banner. The dad is a cop. They're trying to play that card now. They know 100% it's grandpas fault. Just trying to guilt Royal Caribbean into paying. Screw them. I hope RC pounds this whole family into the ground. They're all scum.

Yep, they are totally trying to make a few millions off RC. I felt bad for the parents at first but since they started this bull, my sympathy has diminished. They say RC is 100% at fault and grandpa did nothing wrong. Thank goodness RC has the video and leaked it to media.
The parents also refuse to watch the video that clearly shows grampa lifted the baby way up and over the rail and out the window. They refuse to see reality. The video is not graphic but it is pretty damn clear on grandpa being at fault

Not saying its the case but its entirely possible that the grandpa believes his story...because believing the alternative may not something he can handle.

Without the video tape, Gramps would have 'earned' several million dollars for the family as well as martyrdom for himself (and probably a couple more million for the nightmares he would have in the future.)
Not only did he himself, lean his body through the window opening, he then picked up the innocent, and dangled her for 30+seconds. take out a watch with a third hand and watch HOW FRICKIN' LONG 30 seconds is. That's long enough for Gramps to have made some decisions.

Grandpa says he had her standing on the railing while he kinda bear hugged her. Then he reached out the window while having her in one arm. He said he leaned forward to touch the glass and he must have pushed her forward when he did.
There is only a few inches between the handrail to the window.He leaned out the freaking window before he picked up the baby. How can he say he thought the window was there.
Apparently the babys mom is a prosecutor and she asked the puerto ricans to not press charges. Grandpa says thenworst has already happened so the charges against him are inconsequential
