gramps f'ed up. Not the cruise line's fault.
How did he not fess up to the kid's parents before this went to trial? He had to know there was video. He'll be lucky if the cruise line doesn't ask for him to pay the legal fees.

Frivolous anyone ???

I'm guessing the grandad never told the parents exactly what he did.
Everything about this case just makes me sick to my stomach. I can't imagine losing a child because of the sheer stupidity of a grandparent.

So Royal Caribbean provided screenshots of the video from 2 cameras? Why not provide the entire video? Also, there were up to 13 different cameras but they only chose 2? And the photos they do provide do NOT show the window.

On top of that, they are going to "renovate" the area....aka destroy the scene of the crime before the trial is over.

I have no idea who is wrong, but talk about selective evidence. And anytime you are picking and choosing your evidence, to me, it screams they have something to hide.

RC provided video which showed gramps leaning out the window before picking up the baby. The other cams showed other parts of that area but not gramps.

Grampa lies a lot. Just like claiming that being color blind prevented him from knowing the window was open. Um no it doesnt. Various experts on color blindness have stated that color blind people can see that a tinted window is darker than an untinted one.

But keep lying grandpa, it will all come out in court.

Call me heartless but i am tired of people suing others for their own stupid mistakes or for stuff they caused.

Stupid people are why we cant have nice things and why costume capes have to have a warning that the cape does not enable the user to fly.

You think that RC only gave the court and defendants screen shots of the videos instead of the whole video? Maybe it's just the news outlet who only got screen shots? Just because there are 13 cameras in the area doesn't mean any more than 2 were on the window in question

The videos were given to the public already on the last thread about this. Lemme see if i can find them.

Edit: here it is. LINK

Edit #2: Prosecutors offered him a plea deal weeks ago, which he would have to admit guilt to receive no jail time, minimum probation and minimum supervision. But grandpa is still committed to lying and denying and hasnt pleaded guilty yet.

They paint a very clear picture. I don't need to see Chloe actually falling.

I see arguments like yours a lot lately. WTF do you think additional video would show? Someone standing just out of view pointing a gun at Gramps and forcing him to do what he did?

Oh, but "muh editing." Geez.

What about people who get upper deck rooms with balconies? Should they enclose those too?

Grampa is a complete jackass. Sticking to his lie is only going to cause the family more needless anguish. Either he or his attorney is an idiot, or both.

Dude, this has all been discussed and explained before. The link to the video of him lifting and dropping the baby is in my above post.

Obviously because of idiot grandpa, they have to renovate that area and make it more idiot proof. They do have a business to run and cant keep the ship in dry dock and unchanged while the case drags on. I

I felt bad for gramps at first but as he continues to lie, i lost all sympathy. He has really shown no remorse. The family filing suit was the last straw for me.I

I have all the sympathy in the world for that poor baby though. I have had to recover the body of a baby killed thru a parents complete disregard for care and it aint a pretty sight.

After I saw grandpa's explanation on the news, I thought he wasn't too smart.
Now the family wants that video removed from public viewing.
They don't want everyone to see what a dumbass grandpa is.

This is me. CBS evening news just showed his interview from November and he says there was a window there when the video shows their wasn't. He's a liar and committed manslaughter.

He has been offered a plea deal for no jail time if he pleads guilty.

But he wont because then the lawsuit against RC would be dismissed or completely gutted by his admission of guilt.

I guess getting the money is the main thing for him and the family. He should definitely do time because he refuses to admit any guilt at all.

I think I'd want to go to prison. I'd know I was guilty, and I wouldn't be enjoying free life anyway. Maybe going to prison could be some start to atonement.

Thats what gets me, he shows no remorse and continues to lie.

Take a look at this picture.

He lifted her OVER and outside of that rail. He held her there about 30 seconds before she fell. He could not have stood there with her for that long without knowing the window was open.

Oh now the family claims there should have been signs saying " do not sit on the rail".

Here is more about the parents and their stance on the lawsuit.

The Wiegands say they haven't seen the video and never want to see it. It doesnt show anything graphic at all but it surely does show grandpa leaning out the window. So basically they refuse to see the truth.

The couple said they filed the lawsuit because they believe the tragic accident could've been prevented by the cruise line.

They believe that filing a lawsuit against the cruise line sends a message to them that RC is entirely in the wrong and to blame for the accident.

They also reiterated that they do not place any blame Chloe's grandfather, Salvatore "Sam" Anello, in any way for what happened and do not support the criminal charges against him.

They feel the open windows should be marked.
"Just four simple words, 'Caution: These windows open,' would have alerted the grandfather to the danger,'' the family's attorney, Michael Winkleman, said at the press conference Wednesday. "Chloe would still be here today."

He held the baby out of the window for 34 seconds. With proof that he knew the window was open. He deserves to the negligent homicide charge
