Back in the day the boundary was the RR tracks along Choctaw.
Now it’s probably Government Street.
Before line it will be I 10/12

North Blvd. is where street names change from North to South.

Rouses is opening its latest store in North Baton Rouge, aiming to help fill a major need for an underserved part of the community.

Why is it underserved? Answer from purely a business perspective.

Hi Nabor's about to get some competition

Marilyn Drive to Ardenwood Drive is a pretty good distance.
I wonder how nice this Rouse's will be? Will it be as nice as Juban?

There's still a good number of black folks in La who boycotted Rouses
No, there's not. Some woke white leftists, sure. But there's probably about 10 blacks that gave a shite about that.

Any bets on how long until they close it because of theft and violence?

Will prices at this location be cheaper than their other locations?

The one on bluebonnet reminds me of an NBR location sometimes.

Is that really considering NBR?

Nah, that is right outside of Broadmoor/Sherwood. You need to go more north and north west to get into NBR. Plenty of new businesses are BOOMING in that area and with Amazon on the way it will just get better. This has nothing to do with fixing north Baton Rouge.

Good for them though. Hi Nabor's about to get some competition Hi Nabor has plate lunches and dinners on standby.
HI Nabor seems to be doing fairly well there for decades , but the usual suspects here can't help themselves. Why do they care where a private business decides to locate anyway?

Florida Blvd ain't got nothing on Ames & Lapalco, General De Gaulle & Holiday, or Leon C. Simon near Franklin and St. Roch. If Rouses at those locations can make it, Florida Blvd. s/b too.

Over/under on shooting deaths within the first month? Correction. These guys can't aim for $hit. Over/under on shootings in the first month of opening?

This is actually a great move and they will do fine. There is a lack of grocery stores in midcity and there is a ton of traffic that drives Florida Blvd daily. The Hi Nabor stores kill it in that area of town. They will put an off duty cop at the entrance/exit and it will be fine. With Amazon opening up, it will be even better for them.

Also, it’s less than a mile from an Albertsons and a Shoppers Value. It’s also several miles south of the original Hi Nabor that’s still open and doing well.

So it’s not exactly a food desert.

I didn’t think about that. You are right. That would make this location pretty solid despite the competition on Government Street.

I was curious as to why they would choose this if they wanted to serve north Baton Rouge. This is a much less risky location than Plank or something closer to the bigger Hi Nabor. Or the Super Center on Amazon.

Not really. It's a good 3-4 miles from there.

It's much closer to mid city, if not considered mid city itself.

This store will be 1/4 mile away from Old Goodwood. I wonder if any Old Goodwood folks will shop there...
