Does that say more about me or the list?
If you're my age (late 40's) and into rock music they were heavily hyped in the early oughts and were 'critical darlings.' I really like a lot of their later stuff like Gold Lion and Zero but I remember picking up that first album in my early 20's and not liking it at all at the time (though I appreciate it now). That said, I wouldn't put Maps in the top 200, much less number one.

Did they forget Green Day existed? Impossible to not include Green Day in some way. American Idiot has to be in that list

Holiday checked in at #92.

because its always the same people that pretend to have the pulse of the current culture, but also have no idea who anyone is in the current culture

its such a nice chuckle everytime

some aren’t even rock.

That was my first though and question.

How many on the actual list are rock?

I am old, the current culture that I am aware of is shite, don't care about the rest.

Have a chuckle on me!

Maps is a little overrated, lot of critics consider it a top 10 song since 2000. Love it though. Little shocked half of you guys have never heard of it.

Surprised Coldplay only has Yellow on the list.

It's been a cult classic for a long time. I remember when it came out Alt Nation on XM Radio used to play it non stop.

It's a good song, but I could listen to it once every 10 ears and that be enough. Being #1 is a joke.

I do not agree that it is a good song. I do agree that it belongs nowhere near the top of a list of "top rock songs of the 21st century so far," and probably belongs nowhere near that list at all.

When I said only band was Foo Fighters, I was referring to the songs/bands in the top 25 that was posted

I liked NIN back in the day. They weren't a band I regularly listened to, but I enjoyed their music when it came on

Being old is fine. Getting older can’t be helped. Being a miserable bastard is a choice though. I’m not sure why someone would willingly make that choice.

the perfect summation of Boomer mentality

I guess you and I have different definitions of 'great'

Wait... you don't love it like they love it. Maps. Maps. Maps. Maps.

Lyrically a shite song but it has that catchy guitar plucking thing between verses.

There's about 8 "best" songs on that album, depending on your mood and preferences. The Middle isn't one of them.

The following albums were the same way, had about 10 great songs per. Jimmy Eat World is one of the most underrated bands of all time, but you wouldn't know it from their radio exposure.

Yea I mean if everyone all liked the same music it'd be pretty boring. For alt rock music fans of the 2000's it was a very popular song. It wouldn't make my top 100 but It's not surprising it's on the list.

Yet you like My Chemical Romance.

One of my all time least favorite bands.

“Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand should be Top 10. That song rocks even though they’re a one hit wonder.
