Unless their possession of the gun was unlawful at the time the cop showed up (felon, loaded pistol in the vehicle in some states, etc.) or they had previously or were in the process of committing another crime (outstanding warrant, drug possession, etc.), this was a waste of time. Outside of those scenarios, the only evidence a crime had been committed left when you did. Not judging—just was hoping the a-hole definitely got what they deserved after you put in all that work. But who knows, maybe they did. If nothing else, you inconvenienced them.

If I were a cop, and someone told me "this driver brandished a gun at me," and I observed that the person did in fact have a gun in his car, I would consider that good evidence for an aggravated assault charge.

Outside of long guns in a gun rack, I don't know what guns other drivers have in their cars, and if I become aware of one it's almost certainly because the owner wanted to make me aware. That in itself is a crime.

I suppose there are circumstances where people just sort of accidentally notice guns in other vehicles, but never in my almost 50 years has that happened to me.

To your point, though, you have to get on the record making the accusation, and IDK if a mere 911 call suffices. Probably should, but cops are lazy.

The Road Rage guy is a complete idiot. Unfortunately he does not have any self control and likely has a poor quality of life. No understanding that this kind of reaction can lead to death of others or himself or long term incarceration. What a jackass.

Exactly.

I would assume since he waved a gun at me, he would likely use it if I approached him.

The fact that it's a long gun complicates matters in that if he got out of his car with it, I would shoot him where he stands, before he even raises it, as I would be in fear for my life.

That's a worst-case scenario and I would do everything in my power to avoid that, as you are correct; he's a POS failure with nothing to live for.

Im getting the plates without question unless they are paper tags.

Then I find out where homeboy lives.

And wait for a couple of months just to get a good idea of the comings and goings.

Who knows after that.

Confused about sequence of events. How did he have time to stop in a parking lot and pick up a passenger then catch up to you while you were still driving?

I had a road rage incident at the circle in alex on time. Dude cut me off I honked he got real pissed. At the red light he decided he needed to get out of the car and walk back towards me but I guess Jesus told him that was a bad idea and he turned around got back in his ride and peeled out. Lucky for him because little did he know my 357 was ready to bark 158 grain hydra shoks as soon as need be. Im sure there would have been an article about how he was a good man and was thinking about becoming a doctor.

No but if they come to your car acting a fool sometimes you’re forced to do something about it.

One time I was involved in a road rage incident. I was the passenger and my girlfriend was driving with her daughter in the back.

Guy comes out in traffic and starts beating on her window, daughter starts crying and I’ve had enough of it. I get out which was probably stupid but as soon as I do the guy runs to his car and hits two other cars speeding off.

Makes no sense and it was all because of something stupid.

I had a coworker who got into a road rage spat with a woman in BR somewhere. He claims he pointed at her with a finger, but she called the cops and accused him of pointing a gun. He was in fact dumb enough to point a gun but who knows what happened. She must have gotten his plates and called the PO. Anyway an officer called him and asked if they could talk about the incident at his home. He said ok. On a whim he decided it was best to put the gun back in the house. The officer showed up and asked about the gun. He eventually showed it to him inside the home. The officer told him that if he had found the gun inside the truck, he would have left in cuffs. So I think you’re absolutely right that it would be evidence of agg assault.
So if your driving with a firearm it would not be ok to brandish it (yes common sense) but also you’re likely to lose the his or her word against mine. Common sense would also be to avoid RR if you are even carrying a weapon in your vehicle, although it’s best avoid it any circumstance (strapped or not).

Had a guy almost hit me on the interstate, so I honked at him. He didn’t like that and got road rage with me, and rolled down his window and brandished a pistol. I sped off like a motherfricker as soon as I saw that pistol though, and I lost him. During morning rush in BR too but that was pretty scary. Never had someone brandish a gun at me, threatening to shoot me before lol.

Finally. Someone gets to the root of the issue.

If this queer would have been driving correctly, none of this would have happened.
