Yum Brands on Tuesday announced it is selling Pizza Hut to private equity firm LongRange Capital for roughly $1.5 billion.
The deal excludes the pizza chain’s locations in mainland China; Yum China will acquire those in a separate transaction for about $1.2 billion.

In November, Yum said it was exploring strategic options for Pizza Hut. On Tuesday, the company said its leadership team and board determined that selling Pizza Hut would provide “the strongest path” to maximize shareholder value and give the pizza chain an ownership structure “tailored to its distinct markets, competitive strengths and long-term priorities.”
Across both deals, Yum expects to receive about $2.3 billion in net proceeds after taxes, closing adjustments and fees, excluding a possible earnout of $75 million by 2030 from LongRange. Yum also anticipates one-time expenses of about $85 million during the rest of 2026 tied to the transactions.
Would you think of the poor shareholders!!!111
The enshittification will accelerate and Pizza Hut will be bankrupt soon as the PE vultures have found another host to devour.
Good night, sweet prince.

As far as national chains go, Pizza Hut is way down there now. Papa John's leads by a mile, even though they've slipped a little.
Domino's, Pizza Hut, and Little Caesar's are all trash.

I'll try to grab some pizza before the takeover is complete.

Not sure it can get shittier than my neighborhood location.
Counter workers damn near picked a fight with me over how much they hate life working there.

I suppose that franchise owner who was trying to bring back the 80s and 90s style locations has just been vetoed (in effect).

When was Pizza Hut last alive? 2003 or so?

So I guess these recent stories that started floating around of certain locations doing things to harken back to their "good ole days" were really just an attempt to juice up this deal a bit?

I have not had pizza hut in a while as I prefer a local pizza shop near my house.
It's just yet another example of MBA goons coming in and stripping and killing yet another American brand.
PE is a cancer on society.

yep, they destroyed Pizza Hut
maybe new mgmt can revitalize it but it's not looking good

PH must be a lot more popular in other areas of the country. I don’t think the name is worth anywhere near 2B

PH been trash for a while now. Maybe this is a good thing. They can't get much worse.

Pizza Hut was only good in restaurant and getting the buffet.
It became a delivery only experience, and the quality went down also

PE has more money than they know what to do with and must buy shite to chase returns for muh shareholders.
AKA strip whatever assets they can, load PH up with debt used to purchase it and then bankrupt the company and run off with the cash.
It's the classic playbook and just more wealth transfer to the top.
