I'm sitting at my desk, scrolling and i find this thread.

ALL DAY I've been trying to convince myself to retire. My patience level with some of these people here is a ZERO.

I'll be reading and following.

Buy a lake house and learn to enjoy fishing. That's what I have and that's what I do.

I've been retired for a year and haven't gotten bored yet? What do I do with my time? Whatever hits me at the moment.

I love these threads where the boomers post about retirement to dab on the millennials that will never be able to retire

For sure. Thankfully I have never derived much meaning from my career. And the aspects that are meaningful to me I can do without the bullshite and stress and soul-crushing futility of doing it for a living.

Take up wildlife/bird photography. Thank me later.

Great answer. I'm just back from a month in a place where Tiger Droppings is banned on the internet. I guess I could have gotten a VPN but a month long break wasn't a bad thing. 15,000 photos to go through now. I have a map on my bedroom wall with pins in every place I've been for birds/wildlife photos.

There is so much you can do in retirement. As Rocky Horror said - don't just dream it, be it. Get outside of your comfort zone.

My main hobby is golf

Between playing almost daily, practicing, looking at equipment, my time is mostly spent with golf.

I practice rolling putts on a yard stick at home.

You will probably wonder how you ever had time to work.

if that's all I did I'd be looking for work in a coal mine or cleaning out septic tanks, or some other similar glamorous type work

I’d planned on retiring next month, but nothing concrete. I’m thinking about buying a home and would rather do that while I’m still employed. My plans are to volunteer and attend meetings I can’t go to now- VFW Auxiliary, etc. Will probably take advantage of the Senior Center $1 lunch and help out there if they need it. Would like to be available to take people to medical treatment etc. There’s an organization called “No One Dies Alone, where volunteers sit with dying patients that don’t have families. I think that’s something I could do.

We moved to a 55+ community just north of Gulf Shores, been here 6 years. All the amenities you could want. I can see if your by yourself, it can suck....

Gotta find a place to meet people. You move into a subdivision you might know peeps next to ya and across the street and they'll be younger and work constantly.

Good luck...

Hit up the retirement centers for horny ladies.
They don't swell and they're grateful as hell

that's definitely a factor, people think you're retired and have all of this time on your hands and, certain skills , and they think you're on call for them
