They (my girls and no pics ya filthy animals!) were all really pretty easy and chill growing up. This is all relative of course, but they all three love sports along with the girlie things.

And the granddaughters are just a whole different level of joy and fun. My granddaughters are 6, 3, 1 and 1.

I get your overall drift though!

I find that most retired people I know either want to spend time with family or volunteer their time doing productive things for society.

My opinion, I'd stay active and engaged as much as possible to extend your lifespan. A lot of people retire and get in a routine of laying around and their health deteriorates quickly.

The OP makes it seem like retirement is like getting out of prison after 20+ years. “Making the adjustment to freedom”

From my real experience, financial freedom is on another level.

Weight lifted from shoulders
Complete control of one’s time
No more fractionalization life (involved in many work things all at once all the time)
Best sleep of life

I could go on.

Exactly…if I’d have known it would be this good. I would have retired several years back!

When my old man retired after 42 years of being a plant baw, he said it took him about six months to mentally adjust to the fact that he never had to go to work again. For example, his default was “I’ll have to cut grass this weekend.” Then he’d remember that he didn’t have to wait until the weekend, and could cut it whenever the hell he wanted.

Also it took a good while for his internal alarm clock from waking his arse up at 5:00am.

That’s an interesting interpretation and frame of reference you have but you do you.

Given your vocation, you may be generalizing from a very small data set

Yeah. That’s exactly why he made this thread.

I love reading how insecure and resentful you are in every thread.

I highly recommend getting involved with a key club.
