That's my definition of resourcefulness. How is this any different from checking out a book at a local library, consulting an operating manual, or asking a friend/relative?

I would venture to say that there are a number of things that people don't know off of the top of their head when it comes to certain domestic tasks.

But why should we? The mnemonic abilities of Western civilization has changed in conjunction with the advancement of technology and data/information storage.

Einstein once said that there is no point in memorizing something you can look up at any point.

A much better list would have these, for sure...

2 out of 3 don't know how to do anything without having to ask them first.

Weedeat
Use a pressure washer
Cut grass correct
Check oil/much less change it.

Respect older people

I know how to roast a chicken. You shove a beer can up its arse and put it on the grill.

I don't see why this is such a big deal if you don't know how to do a specific task.

Wait what? How is that part of the future being grim? ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OPEN A COOKBOOK.

how do these millennials manage to survive without knowing the most basic of household skills?

Make enough money to Hire a maid. frick house cleaning.

But at least one part of the couple has to know how to cook. That's unforgivable.

I do all the cooking in my house. Nothing more relaxing on the weekend than a bourbon, a cigar, and the grill

I had an 18 year old guy ask me how to use a parking meter a few weeks ago.

So, if millennials are the worst generation ever, does that make their parents generation the worst parents ever?

Meh. It makes the people who control the institutions the worst ever which yes, includes some parents.

The schools have moved so far left that basically, they're "here's why white people and America sucks" indoctrination centers.

The entire time my 26 year old was in school, it was VERY apparent to me that the schools were in open competition with me for my child's mind. They weren't working with me......they were willfully trying to overcome me(they failed).

But, if you were a parent who mistakenly thought your kids were just going to school to be educated..................yeah......you fricked up.

Sounds like a testament to shitty parenting.

it quite literally can't be anything else. I'd be willing to bet that by the time these 22 year olds are 30, they will have youtubed how to use a washing machine. No excuse for parents not teaching a kid or teenager these things.

2 out of 3 is pretty good, judging from the cooking ive seen across generations.

quote:

— one in five don’t know how to use a washing machine

thats not great but thats still 80% success. hardly the end of the world.

quote:

— one in five don’t know how to use a dishwasher

again 80% do, and not everyone even has one

quote:

— one in five don’t know how to clean an oven

id bet one in five 60 year old men probably hasnt done this before either - is it that weird a stat?

quote:

— more than one in ten don’t know how to change a bag on a vacuum cleaner

i havent had a vacuum with bags in forever

quote:

— and more than one in ten don’t know how to register to vote

this time nearly 90% success rate at the task. think of what you picture the bottom 10% of society to be

quote:

According to the Mirror, “one in three admitting they would ‘Google it’ and one in five would log on to YouTube for advice

that seems both practical and self sufficient

Also, what 22 year old is cooking a roast chicken dinner and why is it bad that they don't know how to do this?

quote:

— more than one in ten don’t know how to change a bag on a vacuum cleaner

do vacuum cleaners even have bags anymore? This is like saying "many 22 year olds don't know how to use a wood burning stove". No shite. Why would they?

It's not the looking up how to do things that bother me.

It's how someone live for 22 years and never have to wash their own clothes, Iron, wash dishes, sweep, mop, cook, change a flat.

My parents had chores that had to be done to live under their roof. More and more as time passes, I appreciate my parents didn't raise a worthless pos.

When I was 18 I got a voter registration in the mail, filled it out and sent it back in. How is that difficult?

Sure, press the button. Should anyone clean their oven? Nope, just wipe it down
