how is using google or youtube any different than looking at a cookbook, the appliance instructions, or asking your parents/friends like you had to do 20 years ago?

I could do all of the domestic stuff when I was 12. I cooked our family dinner pretty often when I was 10.
I heard the contrailwave ovens are great.

But manually I assume you just spray some stuff in there and wipe it down?
So you don't know either and you're 30...

Forget that stuff. Speaking as an old fart in the workplace.
How in the frick is it that the generation raised on technology is FAR more infrickingcompetent on computers than my generation?
I get that they don't necessarily use Word, Excel, PP, etc etc etc while goofing off on smart phones. But shite. When I graduated high school, my pocket calculator was the most advanced technology I'd ever worked with.
My generation had to ramp up to this shite. Then, I get these 20 somethings who can't put together a decently formatted memorandum.

It only takes a 2 minute search on any new smart phone to figure out any of those.

Probably the same in 1950, Donald Draper wasn't doing that shite.

What's wrong with this? Seems like a smart use of available resources

I agree - if you are too stupid to figure out how to register, then you shouldn't be voting.

Did you Google that article?

I see nothing wrong with YouTubing or Googling information.
I do it all the time.
YouTube is actually an excellent educational resource if one chooses to use it for that.

you know how many things I have fixed around the house or my truck by watching Youtube videos? a shitton
I see nothing wrong in any of this
To consider having to google something to be a negative or an admission of guilt is pretty ridiculous. Just another case of "it didn't exist when I was growing up and therefore it's bad."

I'm 30 and have never done either. Somehow, crazy I know, but somehow I have managed to survive and function as a normal adult in society.

my wheel bearings are going out in my truck and I plan to change them myself by watching youtube videos

Exactly its called being resourceful. I hate when old folk say stuff about how we wouldn't know what to do without technology. Yea you wouldn't know what to do without someone having shown you also...the person that's showing us is just on the internet now.
