I used it once and it smoked up the entire house.

My parent's oven went out once. Something digital was fried. The repair guy said it was because mom used the self cleaning function and that its better not to use that because it gets too hot and can cause harm to the machine. I have no idea how accurate this is, but just an FYI for those that are now questioning that button on their oven for the first time

how the frick are people dirtying up their ovens so much that they need cleaning?
When I put something in the oven, it's either in a dish/pan or if it's a something directly on the rack like a pizza I put a foil sheet on the rack below for any falling debris.
Waht kind of meals are people making that causes explosions and all the walls and roof of the oven to become dirty?

Didn't see your bottom of the page post Tittle. That's what I was referencing in my previous post though

when I roast chicken or use the oven method for pork/steaks, lots of oil/fat/grease pops out of the pan and all over the oven
over the years it can get caked on pretty good

Sounds like this is more of a woman problem.

Man the generation before Millennials were horrible parents.

I worked at a place that blocked TD on the office network. They forgot to collect the hotspot thing once I finally had a desk, so TD all day

IIRC, they get up to 900 degrees when they self clean. It heats up the entire room and smokes out everything. I did it on two different ovens. Never again

According to the Mirror, “one in three admitting they would ‘Google it’ and one in five would log on to YouTube for advice.”

I can do that!! My wife, to this day, can't do it, and doesn't know how I do or or more importantly, how I know how to do it. I learned it from Martha Stewart more than 20 years ago.
Well, not actually FROM Martha Stewart, but from seeing her do it on some TV show.

I don't know how to clean an oven either, but I can do the rest of those things.

I know there's an oven cleaning button on our oven, but I wouldn't know what to do after pushing it.
Push it. Pray the wires on your panel don't melt. Clean out ash when done.
Twice a year, I load mine up with all of the metal pots and pans that I own and hit the cleaning cycle. At exactly an hour, I kill the heat and wait.
When it unlocks, wash the pots and pans and you'll realize just how dirty they were.
DO NOT RUN IT FOR THE FULL CLEANING CYCLE WITH ANYTHING IN IT!
You'll melt your magnalites and melt the front panel on your oven too.
As for that list, my wife is 25 and can't do 90% of it. She is learning. But it takes time to reverse 17 years of incompetent parenting. She sprayed oven cleaner on our wood floor because we were out of mint oil....
I've been on my own since I was 14ish, there isn't a whole lot I can't figure out if I need to, and youtube is awesome for the difficult stuff like an engine swap or spatchcocking a turkey..

So, if millennials are the worst generation ever, does that make their parents generation the worst parents ever?

I'm actually an at least above average cook, and I'm not sure how to cook a roast chicken. As in I don't have the recipe memorized. I don't particularly care for it as a meal, so I never make it. I'm sure I could look up a recipe pretty easily. Looking up recipes isn't some newfangled millenial invention. Cook books have been around for a little while.
This goes for pretty much everything on the list. Looking up how to do things isn't new. It's just easier to do now. Before, you had to go to the library. Now, you just have to pull your phone out of your pocket. It's no surprise that people have become more reliant on it.
It also isn't surprising that 22 year olds are still in an adjusting period of learning how to live on their own. You were young and inexperienced at some point too, old farts. It's part of being young. Now get the frick off of my lawn.

My mom tried to show me how to do it several times years ago. I've never been able to figure it out. frick it.
