Every single thing you listed is something that one can easily figure out for themselves. If someone doesn't know how to clean a fricking oven.. then how do they function?

Thank god for the ones who don't. Can you imagine the horror of not being able to get on TD at work?

In my experience, it is usually the case that the old farts are behind and especially uninterested in learning newer, more efficient ways of doing things. They perceive their way as the correct way and can't understand why others don't feel the same.
Maybe it's just unique to the type work I do.

Cause yeah, it seems completely counterintuitive.

Nope.

Everything on the net has equal validity.

Yup.

Blocking video is effectively retarded.

I've literally solved organizational problems with the assistance of YouTube. Problems that would have gone unsolved for MUCH longer.

My 10 year olds can:

- Do laundry (use both washer and dryer correctly)
- Load and run dishwasher
- Cook a handful of items (scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, etc) on stove
- Operate lawnmower
- Change Vacuum cleaner bag

They can actually do more than I could at their age (at least without screwing things up). They have friends who are dumbfounded by the toaster.

ETA...while I said change vacuum cleaner bag...they actually dump the canister and clean off the HEPA filter on the vacuum.

Ask them to open a can using an electric can opener.

I wonder how many can fold a fitted sheet. I consider that task an advanced household skill.

I fail to see the problem here.

I do not, nor will I ever, posses this useless skill . Sheets don't get folded.

Same (absent the vaccuum because ours never had bags), and I'm a millenial!

That shows you how bad the baby boomers really were at parenting among other things they sucked at.

My parents were boomers, but I was the 3rd child and they were already not young when they started having children. Most 22 year-olds, I would venture, were raised by gen-xers and taught by gen-xers in schools.

They do if you care about storing them in a reasonable amount of space and being able to stack things on them.

YouTube is an awesome source for learning how to do things. I used it the other day to double check my methods for putting polymeric sand down between my bricks. Manufacturer had a video going through the process
