Remember the rumor about CDC recommending masks for all?

If Fauci is floating the idea, it’s happening.
Previous thread where the rumor was poo poo’d and called baseless.
These mother frickers have known for a long time that this would help. It’s common sense. I understand not wanting a run on surgical masks, but wouldn’t federally mandated production of these from the start have been a lot quicker, easier, and cheaper than ventilators? I mean, if we’re shutting down the whole world economy and exerting federal control over private business, this seems like a no brainer while we’re at it. So sick of the dilly dallying. If we’re going all in with government control, let’s do it and get it over with. Could have started weeks ago.

You should wear a mask if it will keep you from touching your face. Stop touching your face.
You just did it again. Stop touching your face.

Why would I wear a mask in my home where I'm supposed to be 24/7 for the next 30 days?

The mask thing is annoying
Us - "Masks would help, right?"
CDC, your buddy who is a Doctor, etc. - "No they won't help"
Us - "I mean, they'd help some right, I can't see how they wouldn't help"
CDC/Doc - "No, they're for sick people, they don't protect healthy people"
Us -"Then why do you wear them? Just level with us, they'd help at least some, but you're worried about supply and you don't think people know how to use them"
CDC/Doc - "Wrong, they're actually counterproductive and you shouldn't wear them"
Us - "How are they counterproductive?"
CDC/Doc - "Well you don't know how to use them, and they'll give you a false sense of security."
Us - "I just fricking asked that, and you said no they won't help"
CDC/Doc - "Ok well maybe they'd help some, you should wear one when you go out."
This dialogue has literally occurred for YEARS and now they're on the verge of saying "forget all that shite and wear a mask"

“Seriously considered” = Prepare your anus.
Just like JBE, Trump, and all of the other benevolent leaders dropping hints about shite they already intend to do days or weeks ahead of time, knowing they’re gonna do it anyway. Just the day before yesterday JBE was saying the stay at home order ‘very well may be extended’. The very next day they extended it.
I’m no fan of total federal takeover and huge sweeping mandates. Freedoms are rarely ever fully returned. All of this comes at a price, but this ‘drip drip drip’ strategy of easing people into harsher regulations is only wasting time.

I had to wear a mask when my Grandpa was in the hospital with the flu
I touched my face constantly trying to adjust it, scratching where it itched...it was annoying

I think when all is said and done, if an impartial report is ever done (which is probably kind of doubtful), we'll see that a lot of balls were dropped.
Part of it is just in the nature of dealing with something that hasn't been seen in a long time. Part of it is politics from all the domestic sides and from a lot of foreign players. Part of it will probably just be people making a decision which turns out in hindsight to be wrong.
The one that could end up being the ventilators if they run way short on them. Was there ever a way to ramp up production that would have alleviated that? Are they even being produced at increased capacity now?

Bingo. Even if the CDC makes the recommendation, unless you’re sewing your own non-medical grade masks it’s not going to happen.

Exactly. It’s helpful or it fricking isn’t.
If they’re helpful, let’s get on it, even if only 50-60% effective. They bombard us on the news, Twitter, and press conferences with directives. They could do the same with ‘proper mask use’ cartoons that even the unwashed masses can understand. We have to get this shite behind us.

It will happen when they open society back up. Just delaying time for more masks to be made.

I agree that they shouldn’t lie to us. But after seeing what happened with toilet paper, can you imagine what would have happened with masks if doctors had publicized that this would keep you safe? Lol

I don’t know if you heard, but the federal government is using powers designed for wartime to literally force businesses to make what they want them to make, at whatever cost the fed feels is reasonable. There is no negotiating. I hate the principle of it. But it if they’re going this route, they could do the same for surgical masks and they’d be shipping out by the millions within days or weeks. Ventilators are an entirely different animal. It could be months before the first ones are ready. Whole plants are having to retool in order to make them.
