I agree with this

“NEW: CDC guidance on masks expected to change in next 10 days. Americans will be advised to wear masks in everyday life. Current recommendation is for high-risk groups only.”

Where are we supposed to find masks?

I’d much rather give all masks potentially allocated to me to qualified healthcare providers that actually need them.

They do this in Japan and S. Korea as a matter of course.

Didn't know this and I fall in this group. But, then again I am staying away from people. I do have some masks.

Tons of people are making masks right now. Even if they aren’t medical grade, it should help.

These same people were telling us (like less than a week ago) that masks are generally ineffective for average Joes and may even make things worse. Many doctors, etc. on TV have been saying they’re not helpful.

So which is it??

They were lying to stop the run on the masks the medical professionals use. They see the countries that flattened the curve wear masks. It’s also common sense.

It wasn't the CDC saying masks were ineffective. It was nothing but propaganda because the medical community was afraid of the general public buying up all the masks and rightly so. Of course wearing a mask in public increases the likelihood that you won't become infected.

Hard to beat a decent respirator.

I would think a bandana, with a clear face shield over that, would cut exposure significantly.

The mask I have comes in a Picc line bandage package. There are two mask in each package along with two sets of rubber gloves.

Let's see, how else can we cause more panic. I know, let's tell everyone that they should be wearing masks when the hospitals can't even get an adequate supply.

The average John and Jane Q. Public have literally no fricking idea how to properly fit and wear a N95 to avoid infection.

Folks walking around with surgical masks, which soak up droplets are just asking to pick up something on the way if they don't know how to properly unmask after potential exposure.

FFS are we going to wear surgical gloves? Do folks know how to scrub, don and remove gloves properly to avoid possible exposure?
