A huge portion of the shite people in the US "recycle" gets removed from the US recycling plants and sent to places like China and India because it's cheaper and those places just throw it in the ocean/rivers.

The real answer to that is just try not to use single-use things anymore. Grocery bags, water bottles, etc. are easy changes and the alternative is actually just easier anyway. Makes too much sense.

I don't really believe in MMCC either, ftr. I just believe in not being an a-hole.

frick y’all for telling me I need to spend my money to fix a problem that I’m not causing. The US is pretty damn good when it comes to the environ ent and cleanliness. Yes, humans are nasty people. Go look at China and India and tell me why i need to be taxed more when what we’re doing is a fraction a percent of the global problem while we don’t tell them to do anything and they’re 99+% of the problem.

It’s all a money laundering scheme, how do people not see this?

It's sad when you take a cross country road trip and then get back in Louisiana and you can just tell you're back by all the trash on the side of the road.

Single-use plastic was a terrible idea

This kind of overreaction is what OP is talking about

too bad the filth in inner cities don't take care of their enviornment the way rural and 'red state' americans do.

We ship a huge portion of the trash in the world to other countries. We are consumers, they are our trash cans. And they dump it in the rivers and oceans. Single use plastic just shouldn't really be as common as it is and we'd be way better off.

How far does this attitude go with you, what other activities do you participate in because 'everyone else is doing it' Loot a store?

I do the basics, recycle where I can, I don't litter, etc.
Sadly only 25% of people even do that. You can't fix any of those issues from one spot, it has to be addressed globally, and billions of people simply don't care.

Critical thinking isn't exactly their strong suit. Kneejerk reaction is more their thing.

It was sarcasm, that's the usual response when you tell people that CO2 impacts the climate.

What's sad is you're so dumb you believe this. I've seen mountains of trash on rural roads.

We try to.
We try to build pipes that will send oil thousands of miles (instead of by rail or car).

But all of a sudden, plumbing is bad (despite every home in America using such a wasteful, antiquated technology).

Sure. We recycle, put trash in proper places, and so on. There are lots of things people on both sides of the climate change issue would probably agree on, but instead of knocking out the things there is consensus on, we are encouraged to be in conflict.

To what end?

No, it’s not. I think conservatives don’t want to polute more, they just don’t want to be told to do these extreme things like buy electric car, give up gas appliances, etc while the people saying to do this still fly in their private jets wherever they want. And when there’s other countries literally pumping out more shite directly into the air and water that would make the 1960’s Cuyahoga river look like a babbling brook.

I don’t have to look all over the planet, I can just take a spin around Baton Rouge.
