Don't you think we could live in a more environmentally friendly way? Just look around at the trash all over the planet...Humans are actually pretty disgusting

Putting trash in the proper place must be racist or something?

i think MMCC is mostly a money grabbing hoax, but i freaking hate littering. a completely unavoidable faux pas on the human race just like people who don't put their cart up in grocery store parking lots.

I’m not a climate change person by any stretch

However I have made one simple change and am ok with my contribution to try to save the planet

Instead of drinking 3 or 4 bottles of water a day, I use reusable plastic cups and have a Brita water tank from Home Depot that stays in the fridge

So in a given year that’s me, one person saving 1,000-ish water bottles a year. Give or take some.

That’s my contribution to living a little cleaner .

Even if we start cleaning up our trash India and China are still gonna have a lot of trash, so there's no point.

Nothing anyone does matters.

I don't think you'll find this true at all.

Now...if you want to see pictures of abject littering, just come to the hood for a few days.

Some places are truly like an open cesspit.

I live in East Tennesseem and, in terms of litter, Louisiana is closer to India than my hometown. It is amazing and very sad how much people in Louisiana litter.

I agree, we could all do so much better about not being assholes with litter and using single-use things. 30 plastic bags at the grocery store is dumb as shite, my reusable bags are way easier to carry and hold way more.

It doesn't start with regulation but culture.

I run a lot. I always stop and pickup one thing on my runs. Doesn't matter where I am. Pick up one piece of trash and throw it away.

Globally this makes sense, locally it makes none. Just keep your hometown clean at least, it's not just yours.

I have used the same yeti 32 Oz tumbler for 5 years.

I just pay for a drink and fill it up unless people yell at me and drink filtered water from the fridge. I have a 20 Oz that I used every day for beer coffee whiskey water etc.

What are you a 14 year old r/athiesm user? We can clean up our area and they can live in filth. No need for the nihilism.

Unfortunately there's no compromise. It's either the plant can dump whatever they want in the river or we have to shut the plant down. Someone has to win, someone has to lose.

I'll mention paper bags again over using plastic. We've got hundreds of paper mills all over the country, and some with box plants right next door. Why we don't use paper bags is beyond me. Plastic bags should be made illegal.

You first. Sell your car, sell your house, move into a tiny home with no AC, and stop buying things.

I believe in man made climate change, but I don't believe in being forced to give things up while elites fly private and own multiple homes.
