The race horses are awesome, but the turtles suck.

Lexington is far nicer than Baton Rouge or anywhere else in Louisiana

We live in Charleston, she's already on edge about the demographics (sex AND age)

Im thinking a little smaller. Like Bowling Green.

Downtown Knoxville is underwhelming to me. although I like the Market Square area and the greenways along the TN River. Knoxville is spread out much more than Lexington. West Knoxville seems like it lasts forever along I-40.
I appreciate Knoxville's giant free parking garage downtown, free even on gameday.

Overall it seems like a Baton Rouge, just without a river
you just listed a whole bunch of reasons Lexington is nothing like BR.

Wife and I went to a LSU/Kentucky game a few years back, loved it. Would love to retire there.
Ditto. Other than LSU losing, it was a really nice trip.

I’ve worked downtown for almost twenty years…she's not wrong.

Lexington is boring AF. Louisville was much better to visit.

I’ve been to Lexington 3 times in the last 6 years, it’s great especially if you like the bourbon trail. Last time was 2 years ago, beautiful area of the country.
My only complaint, there is more homeless people downtown than you’d expect- I saw a lot of baths taking place in public fountains.

One thing that struck me is the lack of open space to gather around Tennessee's stadium. There were no parking lots, no big green spaces, and not even really a major strip of bars, so we were curious where 100,000 people pregamed.
