He could use the LSU online job posting system if he’s an alumni.

Apply apply apply, ask your friends, family. There’s jobs...not always what you want or have experience in, but something is better than nothing

Looking all over, recruitment and company sites. Haven’t started blindly applying, but I have thought of pinging folks in decent industries/companies on LinkedIn.

I’ve had a couple of bites and some solid leads through recruiters but to say slim pickings would be an understatement. I guess the downside of being with the same company for so long is that the salary level doesn’t necessarily translate elsewhere and I’m out at the first point of filtration.

My entire office was closed the day after the Saints won the Super Bowl. I accepted a position about 2 weeks later but HR kept dragging their feet. First 4 weeks were a paid vacation. After that I was like WTF are they going to hire me. Pretty nerve racking for me, wish you the best of luck. Took almost 3 months for everything to be processed.

It's all about your network and more importantly the network of your network. Start networking and connecting to new people.

I would go bowling, drive around listening to Credence tapes, and have the occasional acid flashback.

Hard to feel like a man? Hard to keep your chin up? It was for me.

Keep on with it brother. It will make you so much stronger and better prepared; it's a Godsend for the rest of your life if you allow it to be.

Getting laid off was the conduit to a life that I never imagined I'd live. Keep your nose to the grindstone, go wet a hook, keep things in perspective, and go Charlie Sheen on life when it gets back rolling baw.

You have a degree I assume? In accounting? There are some cpa firms hiring in BR. P&N I believe is one.

Been through your situation twice unfortunately. It's the worst. I understand your frustration, and I just want you know I don't wish that on my worst enemy. Worked out in spades for me. Hope it does for you soon

The height of the 2000’s .com bubble also saw massive shifts in telecom.

I was laid off from a startup VOICE/ISP company. Luckily I immediately landed at a major company that made me the envy of all my former coworkers.

Unfortunately for me that company was Worldcom.

For those too young, Worldcom was the #2 telecom company in the world but was embroiled in a massive accounting scandal that ultimately lead to the CEO going to prison and tens of thousands being laid off. I jumped ship before I was let go

There is a controller position in fairhope Alabama at construction firm... get the frick out of BR... I would be gone in one second if I had some skill of some sort.

I work at family company and stuck here. I’m thinking of doing some type of trade to get me in fairhope or near it

Not a cpa, proving to be a massive obstacle unfortunately.

Been teaching CPA’s how to work competently within industry for more than a decade and it doesn’t matter to hr box checkers.

Make sure your LinkedIn profile reflects your availability.

Take a peer at another company to lunch every week or two. Do not put on full court press but do inquire about any openings of which they are aware.

New job site called Vettery may be worth looking into.

Finding a job is now your job but do hit the gym.

Was laid off from job of 29 years about 3 years ago. You can and will bounce back.
