Question for those who have been laid off

How did you pass the time between jobs?
I’m a month in and got worn out with digging through job listings and filling out online applications about two weeks ago. I still dedicate large portions of the day to it but even my wife says that I should go easy and get out of the house some. Hard to go easy or enjoy a goddamn thing to be honest.
Job market in BR sucks arse for advanced positions for those who are curious, Germans to most I’m sure :/

I applied to jobs for several hours almost every day even for shite I had no desire to do. After that I’d work out and then whatever time I had left i’d play video games like the loser I am.
Thank frick I am employed now.

Call your friends and ask who is hiring.
I spent 4 months until I called a friend. Was hired with his company the next day.

Exercise and find some place to volunteer or work an hourly type job you enjoy. You can only spend so much time per week job hunting.

I’ve been thinking the same. Will start up tomorrow, might be a good thing to do after morning kiddo dropoffs.

Be glad it’s not 2009. The job market is very robust now - especially if you are willing to move/relocate.
Despite this, a friend of mine has been unemployed for at least 16 months by now. I don’t think he’s really trying, but he’s also not willing to relocate.
Try to get in a routine. Get exercise. Spend an hour or so every day on the job search. You will get a bite in no time.

I’ve been out of work since mid-March. I basically just look for jobs all day and go to interviews.

Expand your search area. Relocate if you have to.

White collar job market in Louisiana is simply laughable.
If you had a 10th grade education and was a meth addict with several felonies, and as many divorces, you could easily get a job offshore making 100K
If you have a degree, forget about it

Damn. That’s the start of the busy season for you guys. Have you thought about looking inland?

Just making sure, but you are not just looking on sites like Indeed right? Are you going to companies websites and looking there to see if there are job openings? Even if they don't have any, send them your resume just in case. Really, you never know.
Is there anywhere you can go just to talk with? Go hang out with the old folks for breakfast at the closes mcdonalds. Or any public place where you can get to talking to people. You never know where that could lead you.
