I’ve met a lot of rig and casing hands that had degrees that were trying to get their life back together, be it from being laid off, drugs, arrests, etc
Not everyone is willing to do that shite though
Frank’s will hire anybody

HR will smell the desperation that you need a job to pay your bills? Yeah why hire someone who is wants to work and needs a job?

HR will smell the desperation
The desperation aspect would have to be watched before an interview. Not at this stage

Next day I packed a bag and flew to denver. This was may 2015. I bought some vape pens and rented a jeep and drove to west coast and back. 10 days just doing whatever I wanted to do. Best time of my life.

he is a troll man
thank you for the kind gesture, moving away not in the cards just yet but i am not closed to it should things not shake out here by the end of the summer. houston is a logical spot since half of our state lives there including some of our closest family.

My buddy got laid off while we were working together in Midland and did the same exact thing
Except he rented a F150 and went skiing in Breck and Vail before he headed west

Sorry to hear about layoff.
I'm sure you'll start getting calls soon. It takes a while between applications and interview.
Things will work out I'm sure.

I got laid off a little over 5 years ago. However we were told 2 years in advance that we were being laid off so it gave everyone time to look. If we stayed to the very end we would get a severance package of 6 months pay.
I got hired at my current job a week before my last day at the old job so I was able to get my severance. It wasn’t easy though. I looked for about a year and went on interview after interview but kept getting passed over. But everything worked out in the end though and I think it was the way it was supposed to. Keep your head up bro. Something better will come along and it will happen the way it’s supposed to happen

Just relax a little and enjoy the time off. Also, file for unemployment. And obviously Uber and Lyft for a little extra cash.

Don't make your whole day about getting a new job. You'll just get angry and discouraged. The job market in the entire state sucks. Most places here will only hire the exact perfect candidate, and not anyone with near or above their listed qualifications.
If you really want a job, you are gonna have to look out of the state. I got lucky and got a field engineer position, so I didn't have to move, but my main HQ is in Houston. They hired 15 people at the same time. That's just not something that'll ever happen in this state

It’s tough.
If you’re doing something around the house or working out, there is this damn gnawing sense of anxiety that you’re wasting time when you should be job hunting.
It’s really strange. I’ve let my workouts go to shite because of it and that sucks. It’s like a marathon and you know you can’t stop running.
It’s very frustrating.

I know the exact feeling, it's what keeps me on the computer when I know I'd be better served doing something else if even for just a little while. Anytime I step away it's like I get hit with a damn tractor beam.
My worst fear is that I will come to regret not spending enough time engaging in the search, it is the one thing that I feel that I cannot be guilty of.

I was in PA at the time. Probably wouldnt have gotten laid off if I would have moved to Houston 2 months prior. But I wanted to stay up north at the time
