Every time I get new glasses, everything seems off for the first few hours because my eyes are adjusting to the new prescription.
A lot depends on whether you get progressive lenses which works for both near and far vision. Some less expensive no-line lenses may give you a rough transition from reading a book to seeing a hundred yards away.

Yeah I may get something different next time. I started having to wear glasses at 46. Unfortunately, your eyes adjust to them pretty quickly, and in my opinion, they make your eyesight without them worse.

You do get used to progressive lenses. I didn't like them at first, but I've had them for a couple of years now and like them. I used to only wear them when at the computer or reading, but now I sometimes forget to take them off when I go somewhere.

Yep. They are awful. I'd never get progressive lenses.
Best glasses I've have are mono-vision which is having one lens set for distance and the other close up. Had progressives before and they were a pain.

The secret is to have vision so bad, that you need your max prescription wherever you are looking

What variant of progressive?
Last checkup there were 3 choices and they all vary. Which unfortunately (or fortunately) caused a redo when the original frames sat crooked and wouldn't sit level. Three different lenses layouts to accommodate your desire of reading to distance to in-between.

No idea, I didn’t ask enough questions. I forgot to mention they had dilated my pupils and I’d never had that done before. Couldn’t see a thing and they’re like “wanna pick out some frames?”
In the moment glasses seemed like a good idea because I couldn’t see at all. Now I’m realizing I’m better off without them. Oh well, got a nice pair of glasses for driving at night at least.
