I envy you that you got 15 years. 10 wasn't enough.

It is a comic strip, not a study on dog psychology.

I am very sorry for loss, man. I know it hurts A LOT. That magnitude of the pain is a measure of how much he meant to you, and how close of friends y'all were. A piece of you died with him.

I said good bye to mom's dog a few years ago. I hugged him and pet him as he died. I'm tearing up now recalling it. Damn! I miss the little guy.

OP sounds like a normal human being mourning the loss of a beloved family pet.

You sound like a jerk and potential serial killer. I’m sure your momma is proud of you.

This is my take on it, having had to put down my share of pets over the years I've been on this Earth.

If you really love your pet and it is suffering, then it is the only right thing to do to ease it's pain and put it out of it's misery.

Now, if only the country would get it's shite together and allow this to be an option to people who are suffering from terminal illnesses and suffering on a daily basis with no chance of survival, it would be a better place.

Your loss saddens me greatly.

My first dog when I was 6 was a Boxer. I was 12 when we had to put him down because someone put glass in his food. I didn't have another dog until my mid-thirties and deprived me and my family out of years of unconditional love and a million laughs. I have come around and now have four adopted rescues.

Don't be me. Grieve without guilt or embarrassment but when you are able, honor your buddy by finding another one to love. You won't be sorry.

I had a great uplifting cartoon but someone beat me to it. This one also sometimes offers comfort.

When I was 10, I won a goldfish at a carnival. When I got home I found the fish had died in the bag.

After many years of therapy, I finally learned to cope with the PTSD associated with that horrible discovery.

Even though we only was able to spend about an hour together I felt me and Fish had a special bond between us.

I still cry a little on the inside for Fish when I pass by the ping pong toss game at the fair.

We all have our scars.

My wife and I lost one of our dogs 3 weeks ago. We are still very sad, I loved that dog, and I think about her daily.

It’s by far not an a-hole perspective. If losing a 10 yr old dog is the hardest thing you’ve dealt with, that person needs to just shut it cause there are a ton real life tragedies all over.

Get over yourself you worthless frick. Some people grieve differently who the hell are you to tell them they don’t deserve to grieve bc there are other terrible things in the world?

some of you are retarded over dogs. That doesn't even make top 10 worst things a human can suffer with. We just had an OTer lose a 2 year old. If your old dog dying is the low point of your life, then you got it good.

Our 10 year old Boxer had cancer and we had to say goodbye yesterday. I'm still grieving. I know I don't want to go through this again. I'm not sure how people can do this over and over.

Not everyone can. But if you can, you will get another. We're on our 4th Boston. Our first was my girl. We got her when she was 2 years old and she lived until 14. Our 3rd one, we had to put down because of seizures that showed up suddenly and wouldn't stop. We couldn't stand to see him suffer. That one as hard as the 1st one. Now, we have a rescue Boston. He's totally deaf, but it has it's advantages. He doesn't get scared in a thunderstorm. lol. I jokingly call him an idiot because of his goofy personality but we love him. If you decide not to get another, I understand. But if you do, that's great also. Good luck.

When I think of Fish I like to think he was the reincarnated spirit of great Americans like Gandhi or Pope John Paul and our brief time together was just one of his many lives.

No one is stopping the terminally ill from taking their own lives. Suicide is always an option for humans. For animals, it is not.

Where I draw the line is this bullshite thinking that a doctor has to do it for you. You wanna die? Go ahead, but do it yourself and don't drag other people into it.
