Read the thread about losing their baby and gain some perspective

Why you got to be a dick all the time. Just cause losing a pet ain't the same as an actual person doesn't mean it doesn't take an emotional toll on that person. Quit being such an a-hole.

It’s by far not an a-hole perspective. If losing a 10 yr old dog is the hardest thing you’ve dealt with, that person needs to just shut it cause there are a ton real life tragedies all over.

I think they’re downvoting it as in a “that sucks” kind of way.

I have had to put down my own pets before but when it came time for my parents to put down our 17 year old rat terrier it was totally different. It took a couple of months before we could really even talk about her. In the meantime my mom picked up a beat up old beagle off the side of the road, we were not happy at first but I believe she helped us heal & get past our grief.
We have since lost another family dog & adopted another one into the family.

I am so very sorry for your loss, I have a Boxer & they are awesome pets.
Every day will get better, not by much but with each day you will be able to remember the all goofy things your boxer did & eventually smile & laugh instead of cry & hurt.

Go to the pound and save one. You'll start feeling better quicker that way. Just like when you break up in a relationship. Usually takes a new face to make the hurt stop completely

It does seem we have a weekly or twice weekly "put down dogs" thread.

It's sad, but you only expect ten years with a dog, everything else is bonus as they are seniors then
Most of us have dogs and many of us have dealt with this issue.
It sucks.

No shite.

These people that treat dogs like humans are the fricking worst.
I’ve buried a best friend and his son in the past two years. ... go buy another dog tommorow that looks just like the one that just died.

frick.

Had to put our greyhound down 10 years ago ,cried like a baby . I still remember asking her if she wanted to go for a walk ,she would get so excited . I loved that old couch potato .

He did a lot of goofy things. We even created his own Facebook page to share some pictures and videos of him just being silly.

frick all the assholes in the thread.

I’m sorry about your dog. My dog is almost 12 and I dread the day he will no longer be by my side.

I tried telling myself he's just a dog, but it doesn't work.

You know why it doesn't work? Because, to you, he wasn't just a dog. You cared deeply about your boy, and he repaid your love and kindness with loyalty and appreciation that humans have a hard time understanding.

Dogs don't care if you've had a bad day. They just care that you're with them. They sense if you're sad and do their best to comfort you. They are excited any time you include them in your plans, even if it's just mowing the yard.

Dogs make us feel like we're the greatest thing on the face of the Earth, and we don't want to lose that. The great thing is that after we lose one, there is another one out there waiting for you. When you're ready, you'll know, and you will have another decade or so to cherish those awesome feelings that dogs bring out in you.

There are, but those don't make his personal loss any less significant to him. No reason to come into a thread just to tell him he's wrong. The way one thing affects a person may not be your way of dumbass thinking but it doesn't make it wrong. Just stay out the thread instead of being a dick about it.
