When I was growing up my parents taught me that drawing stuff on the wall with crayons got me punished. So, it never once occurred to me to draw things on my body.

I'll chime in on this one.

I've never gotten a tattoo.

I've always wanted one, liked the "idea" of having one, and thought about what kind, style, and image to get.

Considering I could never really decide on what to get over the years, and my whims on what to get changed over time, I decided something basically permanent wasn't a great plan and haven't pursued it any further.

My questions for those with ink.

1. How special is each tattoo?
2. When you get to double digits is it more of an addiction?
3. Any negative experiences either getting the tattoo or negative reactions to the tattoo from others?

I have NEVER seen any piece of art that I looked at and said, "I would like to look at that on my skin every single day.

The only tattoo that was mildly amusing was a lady that had a tramp stamp that was a wall of text.

Baseball, baseball, baseball, baseball,
baseball, baseball, baseball, baseball.
Repeat.

It was functional for both her and her lover.

I got my first about 3 weeks after my 39th birthday.

It's the heartbeats from the first sonograms of my kids. The two we had and the one we lost late in pregnancy.

I regret nothing about it, but I definitely see how getting one can lead to getting more

To each their own. Sincerely!

No tattoos on me. Used that money to buy Mag 7 stocks.

Inked 120% return on the stocks. My preferred kind of ink.

Very sorry to hear!

Love their heart beats over your heart beat. If there is poetry in tattoos, I think you nailed it.

I've never put that much pseudo-psychological, mumbo-jumbo thought into why I don't have tattoos. Most of them look like shitty graffiti to me, and I can't stand graffiti. There's only a couple of tattoos I've ever considered getting, one of them being my family coat of arms.

One or two tasteful carefully placed tats is ok w me. The sleeves, neck and face signals to me a screaming lost insecure person.

Well that sounds like some made up bullshite. I have thought about getting a tattoo, but I never did just because I see it as a waste of money. For me. If someone else doesn't think so then cool, there isn't a right or wrong here, but also some of it is.. What if I get something I am not into later? Like music. My taste in music changes all the time. One day I feel like listening to a certain type of music, the next day its something else. So if I had to get a tattoo, I would look into temporary tattoos so I can change them with my mood.

Look at Mr. Fancy Pants with a family coat of arms.

I was adopted by an oil field family from Oklahoma that literally had to pick up a field of arms when an Oil rig exploded. They did not make that into a crest.
