went from something that was kind of largely ignored to now a phrase you can throw out there and no one can question you on it.

Because I aspire a lifestyle where I can afford more than just splurging once a Quarter to go to either Oliver Garden or Cracker Barrel.

:::Insert Kobe Soft Gif:::

It sounds like the OP needs to move to Orlando and get a Union hourly job taking tickets at Universal Studios theme park.

In all seriousness, a sector of our country has a weird obsession with bragging about how hard or long they work.

I love how they think it's some gotcha brag or a sign of what a badass they are when in reality it sounds like a miserable way to live.

And the irony of it is that most of those folks who work at that kind of clip end up physically unable to truly enjoy retirement because of the wear and tear.

I understand the stress of all jobs. I also understand we all have our own issues. I have tried multiple careers until I found what I love. If your not happy try something new. If you unhappy but like the time off then you have chosen he time off is worth it.

Funny coming from a pilot with crew work restrictions.

Overall, everyone, especially dudes, need to learn how to say no. Use kids as an excuse if you have to. Don't do things out of guilt (being volun-told to work prom, etc.)

Why would he work harder when teaching is effectively prevented from rewarding hard or effective workers, over the shitbags that claim they have national guard drill 15 days a month?

im not a pilot, wrong 777. im the og.

and again nobody gives a shite, work harder or find a new profession, just stfu with the whining.

anything but a tough guy, just not a whiney arse about my mental health either. especially when the OP works in one of the easier professions that he CHOOSE to go into. he knew the pay, knew the hours, knew the requirements, yet still went into it and has chosen to stay....if he doesnt like it, switch proffessions.

just quit whining about your mental health.

funny, never heard my grandfathers or anyone elses grandfathers talking about their "mental health"

bottom line is OP is soft AF

Any white collar professional working 65+ hours a week without extensive PTO is either a specialist in the medical field or law making bank or someone who made poor life choice

tell me you've never owned your own business without saying as much!
My wife is a solo equine practitioner. I guarantee you she works over 65+ hours a week by the time she does all of her own administrative work in addition to everything else. And she volunteers for other shite as well. Its all part of being the sole proprietor and making the business successful. Now, I think she's foolish for not getting more help or managing her practice differently, but it works for her. And she doesn't whine about it, either.
He didn't say "small business owner", did he? Terrible response. Everyone knows you can spend all your waking hours driving a small business. But like he said, that's her life choice.

The OP...don't believe all the responses on this thread that say stay out of the private sector. There are many jobs you don't need to work "65" hours a week, just 8-5/9-6, as long as you are like me: super efficient and don't spend alot of your day BS'ing w other people or reading and responding on the OT.

And "working" from 9-9 is 12 hours. with multiple built in breaks. If you're including that in your "65+ hour weeks" your math is not correct.

I wanted to avoid providing a minute by minute breakdown of each day of the week.

A lot of people don’t understand this is a real teacher schedule.

Life is short and most of those events in the grand scheme of life are meaningless and will pass fast.

Stop and look at the positive aspects of these events. Losing your peace isn’t worth it. It’s more than ok to say no to some of these things.

I don’t know how you Teachers truly manage with only the 5-week summers, two week Christmas breaks, and the one week Spring Break.
What a pompous arse.

All that and dealing with 25+ a-hole kids and their parents to earn for about $3,000 a month after taxes if they’re lucky.

Why not get a master’s online in administration. Become an assistant principal and double your salary without lesson plans and grading papers.

Sorry about all the a-hole comments from people making 6 figures for jobs that aren’t meaningful to helping others.

My best friend works in the private sector and does accounting work for doctors offices. He’s at home 4 days a week, brags about going to play racquetball during lunch, doesn’t work weekends, and says he does about 35 hours a week.
