Done right, it would’ve been much more- a complete DFM-delete conversion imo. My local Chevy dealer only replaced the Bank 1 lifters (lifter in cylinder 3 collapsed), and then the catalytic converter.
I was already done with the truck and had a new one picked out, so I didn’t want to dig deeper into the repair. Just wanted out as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Kinda hated putting it back into circulation knowing more failures would likely occur, but I traded it in at another Chevy dealership who had the Tundra I wanted. Hopefully they get that engine right, or sell it heavily discounted with an extended warranty.

There is a reason I kept my old Tundra 5.7 even after buying a new truck this summer.

The wreck i have mentioned before on here was in mine in 2015. Had about 130k miles and ran fine. Mine had the bench seat. Lucky we took it that night or we would likely be dead.

Should not be costing that much? How much is that much? A few hundred or $10,000?
Plugs should be changed at 100,000 miles. Might just be a bad plug or a coil pack. Might just cost a couple hundred.

Last November I bought a new Sierra 1500 AT4 with the 3.0 LZ0 engine. Made it a little over 10K miles and the entire engine needed replacing. Apparently there was a bad batch of camshafts in the earlier builds. Traded it in and paid the difference for a 2500 AT4HD with the 6.6 LP5

My last GM was a Silverado 2500 HD with the 6 liter Vortec. That engine was a beast but would bankrupt me these days with fuel prices.
