I think it's because a lot of people live in surrounding parishes but work and shop in br. A proposed sales tax would be better.
For the record I am in the no increase until you start using our funds properly. Government officials should have to take a high school level money management course before their first day in office.

It is white people's fault, we voted it down just to see Broome fail. This tax would have fixed all of the roads in BR

I've voted for road and infrastructure tax increases pretty much every time up until the last election and a lot of them passed. Hell tell me how the roads have improved since the last time we uped the state tax on gas......the answer is 0. Until they show me they can do something meaningful with the dollars I already give them I certainly won't vote to give them another penny.

Yea it's really sad. For those who don't think Shreveport is Louisiana, just look at what they're doing and trying to do right now. Vintage Louisiana.

What are they doing? The only thing that has been carrying on for a while is the I-49/220 interchange, but that's a pretty massive project.

The biggest problem is we pass taxes for things like CATs, COA, schools, libraries, parks and not other things like roads.
We spend plenty of money but we don't have enough for everything and we need to prioritize better.

Sales taxes are already too high. A .5-1¢ is a much better way to raise road funds. It's how a lot of interstates were built in that state, and how they paid to widen the Huey P Long Bridge in Elmwood.

Ok since I don't feel like spending my Wed evening googling "when did LA raise gas tax and what the frick did they do" I'll leave it to you to show me when they raised it and what they DID not do.
But if you want to look at the Greenlight Plan that was originally the "pot hole tax" that was a temporary tax started by a republican mayor who was scared of his shadow. It was then asked by a black democrat mayor to make it a permanent sales tax in order to bond the dedicated revenue-which the Parish of EBR approved and tell me it didn't make a difference. In that short period the road work done was amazing. But hey let's leave it at that and call it a fricking day because we are pissed because we perceive nothing meaningful was done.
You are the reason you sit in traffic daily. Not me or a politician. You alone are the reason and you fricking deserve it.
All the people calling for accountability fricking stand up, move this forward and while doing it HOLD EVERYONE-INCLUDING YOURSELVES-accountable.
Either that or shut the frick up and quit complaining because you are as much to blame as the people you are blaming.

The TIMED (Transportation Infrastructure Model for Economic Development) Program was a $5.2 billion transportation infrastructure program designed to increase economic development in Louisiana by investing in transportation improvement projects. The program began in 1989 when voters approved a 4¢/gallon tax on gasoline to fund the projects designated by Act 16 of the 1989 Louisiana legislature. The TIMED program included widening over 500 miles of state highways to four lanes on 11 project corridors, widening and/or new construction on three major bridges, and improvements to both the Port of New Orleans and Louis Armstrong International Airport.
The program, originally scheduled for completion in 2004, was significantly behind schedule by the late 1990s and a new completion target of 2031 was estimated. In 2002, LA DOTD took steps to get the program back on track. Debt financing was applied to the project and LA DOTD hired a private manager, Louisiana TIMED Managers (LTM), to oversee the accelerated TIMED schedule. A revised completion date of 2010 was estimated.
However, the TIMED Program was also impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 that resulted in increased cost estimates and completion delays to 2016.
LTM served as an extension of LA DOTD and managed the overall program delivery, the financing strategy, public outreach, scheduling, pre-construction activities, and construction administration
So, where's that penny?
