I never said I did....but I have voted for many "infrastructure and road" improvement initiatives.
I'm genuinely curious what got better from the last time LA increased the state gax tax....this is recurring revenue so theoretically it should be continuous improvement or at very least staying the same quality.. Texas and LA have the same state rate on gas yet you don't drive on shitty interstates in Texas......at least I don't which basically includes San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and South Texas.

You should research why 1986 dollars don't translate into 2017 too well

I hate to bitch about something and not try to provide a solution. They are pissing in the wind trying to squeeze a property tax. The COA proved how incompetent they are with money. frick em. Instead of pushing for a property tax, how about putting that effort towards finding a way to pass a gas tax. The only tax I'm really for is a gas tax with an exclusive use purpose. That's the only version of a sales tax that is truly fair - especially for fricking roads!

Not to mention the meat I paid for for my burger would be used to make 3 burgers of which two would go to the chef's friends.

Yea I was for it.....but politically under this governor that wasn't going to pass.
ETA it got out of committee with bipartisan support but died in the house if I recall correctly.

Very true. We have a government problem not a revenue problem.
And right now we have a mayor who probably has an IQ under 110 and a backbone comprised of glass. There is no way I'm voting to burn more of my money.
I actually don't mind local taxation. In a better world, we'd flip the amount we pay to the blackhole federal government and pay it to the states and cities. But this city with this Adminstration is a no go on new revenue.

Agree. Martini. I've only lived in this city for 8 years and I've seen huge benefits from the Green Light initiative. A lot of intersections improved and intersection widened. For example, Staring lane widened to 4 lanes, Burbank rd made into 4 lanes, etc.
Now did we get a full $1 worth of value from the $1 in taxes? I have no clue. But to say nothing has been done is ignorant.

That's what I'm talking about. They need to quit being so fricking stupid and wasting time and money on trying to pass a fricking property tax. It ain't gonna ficking happen. Your pising in the wind. Take that time and effort and figure out how to get a gas tax on the ballot. It's really that simple. All the state politicians know how bad BR traffic sucks. You don't have to educate them. Just do the work to get it through the House and on the ballot.

They're gonna end up doing what they did in Ascension Parish. They're gonna make another round of re-assessment on all the home values to inflate property tax.
