The work done is at best, minimal and expected. Just enough to not look so obvious that the money is going somewhere else other than infrastructure.

If you can truly, honestly look at the work being done here as adequate enough to actually call out others for being dissatisfied, that tells me you don't travel to other cities very much. And if you do, you don't pay attention to how much better their infrastructure is.

Most of South Baton Rouge and all of Ascension Parish too.

That's an existing alternate route to I-10 and it doesn't flow. It ties up at Tom Drive, Greenwell, Old Hammond, Goodwood, Siegen, Highland, and Perkins. It's largely ignored.

It should be 6 and sometimes 8 lanes through all of EBR and into Ascension. Some intersections need to be replaced with overpasses.

And that's the big problem coupled with all those families who have to pay private school tuition

We fall into that category. We live in BR over the burbs because we don't like spending 2+ hrs per day in traffic and we pay dearly for it in tuition. If we decide we don't want to to pay it anymore the next move will be out of state.

Takes 20 minutes to get downtown from Zachary.

What is the congestion level on Airline North of Florida?

And widening Airline doesn't really alleviate travel times when there is a red light every 100 yards. BR doesn't just need more revenue for roads, it needs better transit planning. Right now, the only solution our city planners have for an intersection is to set a red light at it.

I've posted this before, there are over twenty red lights on Florida Blvd between O'Neal and I110. It doesn't matter how many lanes you have, it's going to take forever to move down that corridor during peak traffic times. It's ridiculous.

The proof is the condition of the infrastructure. That's fricking stupid to ask. Would be like me asking you to prove that your heart is beating.

The section around Tom Drive and Choctaw is really congested at rush hour. So is the 4 lane section around Highland in south Baton Rouge and where it crossed Perkins in Asension.

Most of the obsolete transportation infrastructure in Baton Rouge are the federal highways.

Yep. Unless they build a bypass/loop we can work on the surface streets for the next 30 years with minimal traffic improvements

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem to fund the project on a federal highway without waiting for it to be paid for by the government.

You really aren't as bright as you think you are. My arguement is about ONE specific tax. Not CATS or COA which I did not vote for nor do I support but I got out and voted against when most on here were just complaining instead of voting. Regardless we were outvoted.

I look at the specific tax of the Greenlight Plan and am aware of it being more than adequate for what it was designed and voted on.if you think it wasn't tell me how and why. This is not Texas or Oklahoma or anywhere else. This is Baton Rouge and your lack of ability to see that tells me you really don't know much about how this works.

And from another thread I'm well aware you haven't a clue as to how these things actually work. So according to you the "minimal" amount is being done so we are hoodwinked while the REAL money is going elsewhere?

Put your tinfoil hat away dumbass and fricking grow up.

I'm generally not in favor but in certain cases, for the greater good of the community, I'm ok with it being used. I think the property owners should get 20+% above appraisal value and should be compensated for relocation expenses.

Local taxpayers alone should definitely not shoulder the burden of widening I-10, US-190, or US-61. The parish already taxed itself to widen a shite load of roads in the past decade.

So while BR has clusterfricks like the COA, CATS, constant "studies" for projects that will never happen, paying a criminal rapper to teach kids how to deal with cops, etc... you really think that the BR government will efficiently spend money taken in from tax increases? Do you think that increasing taxes won't have an effect on money leaving the parish?

I think the government spent the tax money on roads efficiently because it was dedicated, the list of projects were published and we held them accountable and the projects were complete. Concrete is hard to hide. I think - and I don't care for a property tax-I think it should be a sales tax but regardless I think it would be spent like the last plan because we watch and demand it.

CATS and COA are different animals that also have to be dealt with and frankly I think the uproars regarding them will hold them accountable-whether you agree with the tax or not.

I can't say one way or another of money leaving the Parish. I think maybe it will, but then say roads are built , maybe it comes back or new money comes in. I am not qualified to answer that question.

And while it has been shot down at the moment I'm well aware many people on here complain and arguing don't live here and would not pay a dime anyway.

That's extremely ironic coming from you. The king douche of any thread where you got it all figured out and everybody else is a dumbass. That's rich.

Case in point.

But no, you're right Martini. Our city government does an outstanding job of handling infrastructure. It's really something to be envied.
